Controls
All most all your controls are touch pad based.  From walking and running to
talking and fighting your touch pad is your friend so if you don’t use it a lot
then you better practice.  I also suggest you read the book inside the game
case for better details

Movement:
Town:
Touch Pad (A little hard to use) - Walk in direction of arrow, double tap that
arrow to run
Control Pad – Walk
X plus Control Pad- Run (once you press x you don’t have to hold it down)

There are 3 different modes with different controls on the touch pad

Normal Mode
Touch pad options:
Search- This little feature confused me at first but I learned how to use it in
the inn at the beginning of game.  You can open your chest that’s in the inn
with this feature.  It also helps in Monster tower which you’ll see in the
walkthrough

View Inventory- This is how you use all items.

View Status- View not only your status but allies (in this game monster allies)
PS: I can’t tell how you know when you’re going to level up so just fight as
any monsters as possible

Map: See map of city

Dialog Mode and Dialog Progression Mode
Touch Pad

There are two types of dialog modes.  When you walk into a person the first
mode, regular mode, these are your options

Talk: Talk to that person

View inventory: I don’t know why this is here but there are side quest in this
game which makes it’s a little bit more challenging because if all you did in
this game was go up a stupid tower it be pointless

Give item: You can give a present to that person; I suggest not doing this
because unless that item is going to get you a reward in return, again side
quests, then you use it for your own benefit

The second dialog mode isn’t very important because all it has is the picture
of the DS and your little pen thing pointing at the touch pad.  Basically you
need to press the touch pad to continue the conversation but you can press the
A button, once again if you are not use to using your pad then use it.

Inside Monster Tower (You can’t really pause the game so be careful here)
Monster Tower has square blocks on the floor> Tip for monster battle, each
block when you see a monster actually counts as a full turn.  Yes even when you
are not facing a monster just think of every block you step on is a turn.  This
is how you trick a monster to get the first attack.  If you move the monster
moves however the monster will stop just so it can get the first attack, took
me 3 floors to figure this out.  So when you see it stop, happens when it’s a
block away just move sideways and it will follow, even on level 7 the monster
will do it, they aren’t very smart but they are powerful so it helps to get the
first move.  If you can make it so that your allies can attack to

Touch pad- Walk, Double tap to run
Directional Pad walk
X (holding) + Directional Pad- Run

Touch Pad options
Search- In the tower you will come across a ball shaped crystal in a pedestal
block search lets you active it
Pick up item/Open Chest- Appears when you come across a chest or when an enemy
drops an item, or if an item just happens to be on the floor
View Inventory- Look at items and weapons you have
View Status- View your status and allies’ status
Use Magic- This is cool because as your level increases so does your magic and
its range so if an enemy is only two blocks away
Do nothing- Be careful because if you pick this you can miss a dropped item, I
learned this the hard way
Map: See map of that level (in order to see whole map you must walk around that
entire level)

Battle controls
This game is turn based, for those of you who aren’t big Final Fantasy players
this means you attack once wait for your enemy to attack then you attack again
or use magic which ever.  This turn based game is actually easier because you
can trick the monster.  If you just run into

Here are your options

Use magic:  You learn magic at the start of the game from your father.
Basically you need to draw the magic symbol on you touch pad.  You see this is
why I said you need to practice because if you draw it wrong they game actually
makes you miss a turn.
Magic will be explained later on

Use item:  Now this is a partial guide which means I add as I play.  However
there are items you can use to kill or avoid enemies like monster meat.  Also
there are magic orbs but I’ll get into your inventory later

Strike: Use a weapon to attack

Defend:  Block an enemy; if you have a shield less damage is done

Do nothing: I suggest not picking this, even though you may want your allies
attacking at less defend yourself

Store controls ( Café, Weapon shop, Johnny’s, Hall of Dark Arts, Accessory
shop, Inn,  Coliseum, Monster shop, hospital, fortune teller, and when I get in
it tool shop)

Café
The woman who works here is nice so enjoy her virtual food

Order: Place an order for the best virtual food a RPG character can ask for

Talk: Talk to her because no one else will, you’ll learn why later on

Give item: I know I said not to but she is so nice so if you have an extra
nugget then give it to her, however since everyone is SOOOO nice she wouldn’t
take it

Leave: Leave store

Johnny’s
Johnny is cool he’ll give you advice, remember since everyone hates you talk
only to Johnny, if you want to talk to the other people be my guest just don’t
be upset when they say mean stuff to you

That’s all you do here, it’s not a store but Johnny has nice advice

Hall of Dark Arts
In order to fully acquire this shop talk to Izam twice, once when you tells you
to buzz off the second when he tells you he’ll help you for a price, and boy he
wasn’t kidding.  You need to be Donald Trump to afford his skill, which is
really cool.  He levels up your staffs, swords, and mirrors or anything that
has LV # next to its name.  The first level up is 2000 G then 2500 G and so on
so I suggest level up one and only one stuff, if you don’t want your fathers
stuff that’s cool but I wouldn’t let something that valuable be weak

Upgrade equipment: Weapons, swords, mirrors he does them all I am not sure how
high of a level the stuffs can go but if you can afford to spend 5000 G be my
guest

Talk: Don’t bother with this one for any of the shops cause no one will talk to
you, even though you’re like their own customer they will say time is money or
some junk like that

Give item:  I am not completely sure of who takes items from you so unless they
ask for a specific item don’t give anyone anything

Leave: Leave shop

Weapon Shop
Jogh is cool but he wouldn’t talk to you either.  From staffs to swords to
shields he has them all

Buy a weapon: There are multiple staffs, read their descriptions first because
some may only let you use level 1 magic not level 4, there are swords and
according to some of their descriptions they all suck expect the element based
ones.  Shields are nice, I suggest Mirror Shield my results 1:10 battles it
helped me fend of magic attacks

Sell weapon: Please don’t be stupid here, if you level up a weapon don’t sell
it cause you put over 10000 G into it so don’t sell it cause you wouldn’t get
that much in return and this will make you mad enough to break your DS

Talk: Again don’t bother

Give item: Again unless he wants a particular item don’t bother

Leave: Leave shop

Coliseum
Pokemon was one thing but this is way better.  Here you need to the first guy
and register and you stay registered forever, you can battle and trade monsters

There’s this black dude to your left he doesn’t say much
The first thing you’ll see are two white dudes in front of two doors.  The
first is the battle arena.  The second is the trading post.

The first guy will tell you that you need to register once that’s done talk to
the lady inside she’ll register you and give you 3 options

Vs CPU- You never know who you’ll face

Vs Friends- If you have a friend then battle him with the monsters that you
hatched sop far against the ones he’s hatched

Never Mind- Leave

The second dude tells you about how you can trade with a friend

The woman inside gives you one option which is trade monsters

The Coliseum is fun but if your monster wins its helps you in the end

Accessory Shop
Kusha is another nice person who wouldn’t say much but at least she talks to you

Buy:  Her stuff is interesting, she does have a health drink and the rest of
her items are still a mystery to me

Sell:  She takes you nuggets that you find, Small Silver Nuggets are 100 G,
Large Silver Nuggets are 300, and Small Gold Nuggets are 500, I am still
playing the game so when I find the large gold nugget I’ll let you know how
much that is

Talk and give item again don’t bother

Leave

Fortune Teller
Better then Johnny’s advice for 10 G you can’t go wrong with someone who says
they are the voice of heaven

Talk: Kanraka tells you she is the Voice of Heaven and asks if you wish to hear
it too, say yes to hear it or say no.  When you say yes she tells you to make
an “offering” of 10G, so say yes to go on or no to leave.  After saying yes she
says that she will talk with the Voice of Heaven.  Sometimes her advice doesn’t
make sense and you think that you wasted 10 G well if you read the advice
carefully it will have secrets about Monster Tower.  After that just leave

Monster Shop
C.K., that’s his name and the name of the game is Egg appraisal which means
until he appraises it you can’t hatch it.

Sell an egg- The game is weird but you can’t have two of the same monster so
you can sell the egg of a monster you have already or turn it into medicine at
the hospital

Egg appraisal-  When you find an egg in the tower it will say ???egg, now at
first I was like ???? myself but then I remembered so other RPG game and knew
what I had to do, plus the book in the game box told me this.  Its free don’t
worry but the better the monster the better the price he’ll give you

Talk: He doesn’t say much but he does tell you his appraisal is free which is
so nice on the account that almost everyone hates you

Give item: DON’T DO THIS

Leave: Leave

Hospital
Happily located next to graveyard, nice to know right

Jarett, who I am not sure is a woman or man, is mean at first but then she
decides to help

Make medicine-  Different monster eggs make different medicine

Talk: She tells you what she does and how helpful it is

Give item: As nice as she is don’t do it

Leave: Leave

Inn

Possibly the nicest people you’ll meet, and they better be after saving their
lives
Hausa and his son Pieth thank you by letting you say for free at the inn

Talk: Just lets you talk

View inventory: nothing special

Give item:  You already saved their life but it’s nice to repay them now and
then

Your room:
First door you see, there’s your bed and your chest.  Walk to the bed and press
A it will let you save and recovery HP and MP

Story( According to Matthew Jacobsen)
The game opens up with the Prologue which I suggest you read.  This tells you
about Monster Tower and how it came to be and how peaceful everything was
until…..
Lightning destroyed the seal at the top of the tower and all the ancient
monsters are unleashed.  Then you are in the room of your hero Tao who is about
to be woken up by his brother Lot.  You promise to go fishing but you are so
tired that you can’t get up making your brother run away.  After arguing with
mom and dad you learn that your father wants to see you in the gym later and
then you leave to try to find Lot only to learn went back home.  You meet your
father as expected and learn that he wants to train you to become an Air
Speller which means you use the air to cast powerful spells.  After learning
the basic and seeing who impressed his father was a fellow student runs in to
tell your father of a danger that has come to the island.  Tao wants to help
but his father seals he in what seems to be a shield.  The shield for some
reason dispels and you run outside to see what happened only to learn that
people are stone statues now.  You run and run seeing everyone all the stone
villagers and to make matters worse you see your own father as a stone statue
too.  Tao runs back home only to learn that his mother and brother was too
turned into stone and after crying and hitting the floor Tao faints.  He wakes
screaming for his mother and brother only to be in the presence of four elders.
The elders inform him of the events take took place and tells him that if he
wishes to save everyone he must get the egg of Straitser who cast that spell
but to get it he must travel to Mondominio to retrieve it before the next full
moon or else.  One week later Tao thinks he is lost but sees two people in
trouble.  After helping them he learns that he is outside of the town he has
been searching.  After resting at the inn he receives advice and help from
Gorsh, an old friend of Tao’s father.  So now with his father’s staff and the
ability to capture and use monsters Tao heads off to save his people.  You
learn that your people were actually considered evil and for that people fear
and hate you.  Though you are on this journey alone don’t give up hope is
around the corner.

Walkthrough

This is Tao’s Adventure Curse of the Demon Seal
The game opens with the prologue which gives you a history lesson on Monster
Tower, the site of the game.  The game opens with a cut scene in Johnny’s
during what seems to be a storm of some kind.  This dude walks in with an egg
and says that it was a Bakim egg which he got on the 30th floor, woo the 30th
floor that’s high and he is told that he can get at least 1500G for it and so
they talk and talk until lightning strikes, what we don’t know yet until a man
runs in and tells everyone that Monster Towers seal was just destroyed and the
ancient monsters that were locked up can escape.  Then the game takes us to a
boy in bed being waked up by another little boy by the name of Lot.  This is
when we meet our hero for the first time, give him a name and go talk to mom
and dad.  Mom tells you to grow up and you get mad, but they tell you to find
Lot and make up with him.  Then dad tells you to meet him at the gym for magic
training later on, off you go.  You find yourself on the beach.  I suggest you
talk to everyone because it will be the last time you can, especially with mom,
talk to her a lot because you wouldn’t be seeing or talking to her again.  The
guy you have to talk to is on the side of the water.  North of the river is
school.  South is the way you want.  Talk to everyone before this guy because
like I said you’ll never be able to again.  The guy is near the first house by
the water.  When you leave your house you end up by the water and after the ?
leaves head south to the very first house there, you’ll see a villager with
yellow hair, he isn’t the guy.  Walk around the house you’ll see a man with
gray hair talk to him, he’s your guy.  He tells you that your brother went home
and you decide to go to the gym were dad is waiting for you.  You discover that
you’re the only one there, when you ask why you find out that your father wants
to train you in the act of Air Spelling which is a difficult act indeed, good
thing you’re a born Air Speller so you’re a natural at already dad just needs
to help you.  He gives your first official weapon a Spell staff and your trusty
Spell Book.  You go nuts and you are super happy and dad goes on his lecture
which I paid no attention to.  You go and tell dad that you want to be a Master
Speller and that you want to be as great as Master Godai.  You dad tells you
its ok to have high hopes and dreams and to never let them die.  Before
training he asks if you want him to explain it again or if you are ready.  Your
father then takes you into the gym where your training begins.  He tells you
that he will teach you the 5 basic magic’s that you need to know.  First up Boa
the fire magic.  If you are not use to drawing you better practice and if you
haven’t used your Touch Pad well you need this to draw and if you mess up your
father talks and shows you again, this gets very annoying so take your time and
do it the first time.  After you do it the touch pad asks you whether you want
it explained again, were your father talks again and says the same thing over,
try again which means you don’t have to have him talk you just practice (if you
are not use to the touch pad do this so you can get good, if you are not good
at in when you face monsters and use magic if you screw it up you wasted a
turn, I know it sucks that’s why I put this down twice).  The first symbol is
like a triangle that is crossed at the top.  The back of the book in the case
has the 5 basic magic’s so don’t be afraid to look.  When you get it right dad
is so proud.  Next up Sala to water power, in this game the healing power.
This symbol reminded me of those magnets on the cars that say support our
troops.  Next up is Fin basically this magic pushes enemies back, very useful
on bosses, yes it does affect them.  Its symbol is wave like, and the attack
reminded me of Megaman’s Strom Tornado form MegaMan X for N64.
Next up Domdo the earth power.  In the game this makes a monster paralyzed for
a short time.  The symbol is an n so it’s the easiest to remember.  Next up
Elec the lightning power.  The symbol is actually a thunder bolt.   After this
your father asks is if this was easy or hard, it doesn’t matter which one but I
suggest you say it wasn’t so bad because you may have do it all over again.
Last but not least Bound which is my favorite power.  It allows you to teleport
from one place to another basically it’s a V so that too is easy to remember,
I’ll explain it better when I get to its use in Monster Tower.  Ok you have the
5 basic magic powers learned and your father is so proud of you.   Then your
book glows, what is going on here.  Your father tells you when you reached a
certain level your books record the spells that you learned, which means at
level 1 you learned the basic magic powers.  Your spells level up as you do so
be sure to check it.  Plus the book shows you how to draw the symbols which
helps.  Then you hear scream, its dooms day what is going on here.  Then two
disciples come in telling your father that the town is under attack by ancient
monsters, which shocks your father.  He tells you to wait but you want to help
in so way.  All of a sudden your father seals you in a shield of some kind and
you can't get out.  At least 15 real time seconds go by, game time I am not
sure I could be a minute or two.  Then it just disappears, what happened ok you
have to go outside now, go through the door you and dad went through and then
outside.  You discover a stone figure and you notice that it was a villager.
What the hell happened?  Tao starts freaking out now, person to person he goes
until DAD.  That’s right your father stands before you holding up his staff, he
was turned to stone before he could do anything.  Tao has no time to worry
about dad he goes to his house, MOM LOT.  They too are stone and Tao falls to
the floor crying and hitting it until he faints.  You then wake up screaming
for mom and Lot only to be in the presence of 4 elders who you learned were
about to get their defensive powers up in time to save themselves (selfish
people).  They tell you what happened to the people and your dad and you even
get to see a cool little cut scene. Then you learn by getting the egg of
Straitser you can save the villagers, but there is a catch before the next full
moon you need its egg to do a ritual to save everyone or else.  What makes me
mad is that there are 4 of them and 1 of you and they tell you that they are
too old to fight, yet they had power to save themselves.  Though he isn’t
completely sure the elder in red had no choice, plus Tao wouldn’t take no for
an answer.  Ok you’re on a boat and the elder gives you a rod, but not just any
rod your fathers Wind Rod plus a Bente Charm, which I don’t know how it works.
The elder tells you of a man by the name of Gorsh and that he was a friend of
your dads and that he will help you on your journey.  Ok one week later, which
according to my calculations means that you have barely enough time to save
everyone, but what do I know the full moon could be weeks from that point.  So
your on a beach and you see a boy and a guy holding a staff being attacked by a
slug so you go over and save them with Boa and then the man introduces himself
as Hausa and the boy is known as Pieth and the man notices who you are and
where your from.  You ask them where Mondominio is and Pieth tells you that you
are on the outskirts of town.  This guy is cool he’ll let you stay at the inn
for free and you can keep going and rest as many times as you like.  The inn is
were you can save and replenish HP and MP, do so before anything.  Next morning
you wake up in the inn room which Hausa and if you look to Tao’s right you’ll
notice a chest, use search to open it.  Here you can put items.  To use the bed
use walk up to it and press A then you go to your file menu, save it trust me
cause if you die you start at the beginning.  Go out of the room and walk
straight down and out where you talk to Hausa and his son.  Talk talk talk
that’s all you do here, Hausa tells you that you can stay anything you like.
Hausa tells you that you can find Gorsh on the east side of town.  Go find
Gorsh, use your map to find him it’s easier then me giving directions.  Go and
talk to him and after telling him your situation he helps you by giving you a
Sealing Book and a Monster Collar, both help when you hatch an egg.  After him,
what I did was go into every house and shop, not every house will let you in,
and if you scroll up I put down the people you can talk to.  But after Gorsh
head to the Monster tower gate and talk to the guard he’ll say that you’re a
new person and ask if you have a pass, whatever answer you give him he’ll
inform you that Mayor Carl must give you a pass before you can go into the
tower.  Ok go talk to the mayor.  He’s an ok guy, but he’s worry that since
you’re a kid that you can't hack the tower, even though you’re of Bente
descent.  He does give it to you; he better or you can't get in that tower.  Ok
back to the gate with the guard walk over him talk, let him know you have the
pass, now off to the tower.  You start walking down the bridge and you stop and
then the view of the tower is seen ,boy its high I mean high, really high, like
40 floors high.  Ok here we ok people welcome to Monster Tower, go thing you
know Bound because with it you can leave the tower whenever, plus before you
walk in Tao on his own accord uses Bound.  (Monster levels ARE downward).  OK
after meeting Petcho on certain levels he will say, time to rest, eat so on and
when you talk to be, especially rude people he isn’t afraid to speak his mind.
Eventuall you’ll meet three hunters who you think are thick headed.  Well they
are.  You also meet a girl named Min-Min and though she likes you her father
doesn’t.  Ok on and on until Level 5 where this mysterious guy informs you that
every 5 levels contains a boss.  Onward until Petcho decides to break again and
around level 8 or 9 you discover that those hunters get sick from Gecolas
poison and you most get one of its eggs to save them.  Level 7 has the egg so
fight your way through and get it.  Save them and be repaid with 7 or 8 Pita
fruits.

Level 1 of Monster Tower-
Here is were you meet Petcho, but he is at the end of the stage so don’t rush.
Make sure you equip your staff.  There are 3 monsters here, Chaydder, Slimok
and Cuckooie.  This is a short stage, so I’ll go in the direction I went.  I
went to the right up the directional platforms to the first monster, Chaydder
who was super easy.  If you keep going to the right and a little path downward
you’ll meet a Slimok beat him then theres a chest with an antidote herb. Ok
back up and you can either go up or left, I went left first look in that room
and you’ll find a s. silver nugget ok now leftward.  Again fight Chaydder.  In
this room you can go up left right or down.  If you try and go down you can't
because of a block that stops you.  I tried moving it, when I do I’ll let you
know.  Ok leftward, fight Slimok ok now theres up down and left, leftward is a
chest so follow that to get a herb after beating Chaydder, Back up and to that
room, if you go down you’ll end up at the beginning.  My only suggest if you
don’t like my directions fine just walk around and fight and pick up items.  Ok
so in that room next to the chest with the herb, go up and you’ll fight
Chaydder.  GO in that room and go to the next room and fight Cuckooie.  Now
you’ll come to a bridge or you can keep going up, with a chest, I foget the
item in it but it is useful, ok fight Cuckooie and Slimok.  Ok now if you go
rightward you go to the end of the level.  Here you meet Petcho who you must
save.  He tells you that his friends attacked him and that everyone went crazy
and if you leave the tower with him you discover the dark secret of the Bente
clan which Tao doesn’t believe but its pretty dark.  Ok back to the tower in
the circle where you met Petcho.  Keep going right and you fight yet another
monster over a chest.  Go down now you’ll see that bridge again go on it and
fight 2 Chaydders and Cuckooie.  Through the left is another Chaydder and
downward, where you face the 2 Chaydders you’ll be the room with the block you.
Now if you missed anything just walk around and check every corner because I
think the level changes in terms of items that are there so just walk around.
Ok on to Lv 2

Levels 2- on ward

Ok me telling where to go is boring so really walk around fight enemies and
open chest and pick up items.  This game is ok but I'll put boss FAQS to.  Each
level gets harder and harder so star specs help if you are lost

Boss FAQ
Every 5 levels there is a boss and the first one is hard.

Menturtle (or something like that)
He is hard.  He does a lot of damage especially with his flame wave attack.  He
also becomes a hard shelled ball which can't be damaged.  Use Monster Meat he
actually falls for it use it to heal yourself or attack.  Use Fin or Difi to
push him back.  The you win happy days on to next boss.
