/Introduction [INTR01]\
Welcome and good day to you, my name is Vinder E DarkWolf and this will be the
fifth guide that I have made. I have quite the experience at making them,
however I am happy to listen to any tips or tricks of the trade you might have,
so long as they are not crude or rude. Now as for the guide, it will focus on
the basics to making a map using the "Construction Zone" part of the game, also
how to unlock the kits and what they have. All of this you will see soon enough
so let the festivities commence!
_______________________________
/Controls And Menus [COME02]\
The Menus
-----------
When you start the game you will have three options: Main Game, Construction
Zone and Options, this guide will take place in the "Zone" so lets go there.
Once you are in the "Zone" you will have four more options. Play Level will
let you pick from a list of your maps to play on. Edit Level is where you go
to make, edit or delete maps. Nintendo WFC is for sending and receiving maps
online and Multi-Card is for sending and receiving maps from one DS to another.
The Controls
--------------
Now that I think about it, you use the stylus for everything in this game, just
tap on what you want to do. Other then that you can use the D-Pad or A/B/X/Y to
move the screen and Start/Select to pause the game when you are playing on a
map, if you want to know how to work the minis you can go to the Main Game and
pick the "Help" button.

/Basics [BASI04]\
Selecting A Map
-----------------
When you are ready to make a map go to the Construction Zone and select the
Edit Level option, in here will be any maps that you have made or downloaded.
You can have up to eight maps, once you make a map you will have to play test
it, if it passed the test then the map name will appear in blue, if it did not
pass or you have not tried it yet then it will appear in yellow.
If you have any "Open" spots then that map is empty and you can make a map
there, once you have picked one you will be shown a list of the kits you have.
When you chouse a kit you can trun the "Template" on or off, if it's off you
will start with an empty map, if it's on then you will start with a premade map
this can help if you don't know what to make and want some ideas.
In The Map World
------------------
Now that you have a kit and are ready to make a map lets talk about the map
itself. A map is made up of a 32-24 block grid, when you start a map the bottom
left side will be white and the surrounding areas will be gray, the gray area
will not be a part of your map, to resize your map tap and drag the black block
at the top right of the white part of the map. The map will look like this:
32
|*|*|*|*|*|*|*|*|*|*|*|*|*|*|*|*|*|*|*|*|*|*|*|*|*|
|*|*|*|*|*|*|*|*|*|*|*|*|*|*|*|*|*|*|*|*|*|*|*|*|*|

24| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | |*|*|*|*|*|*|*|*|*|
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | |*|*|*|*|*|*|*|*|*|
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | |*|*|*|*|*|*|*|*|*|
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | |*|*|*|*|*|*|*|*|*|
Playable--| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | |*|*|*|*|*|*|*|*|*|
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | |*|*|*|*|*|*|*|*|*|
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | |*|*|*|*|*|*|*|*|*|
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | |*|*|*|*|*|*|*|*|*|
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | |*|*|*|*|*|*|*|*|*|
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | |*|*|*|*|*|*|*|*|*|
| | = White Area
|*| = Gray Area
|#| = Black Block
The bottom of the map will always have a ground so you can't fall into nothing,
but you can place spikes there, so long as there's a ground.
In Game Menus
---------------
On the top part of the bottom screen will be a menu bar, from left to right
will be a green button with Mario on it, a blue button with a hammer on it, a
red button with a gear on it, two yellow buttons with arrows on them and a blue
bar with 0-100 on it.
The green button is your items menu, when you open it your objects will be on
the left and your enemies will be on the right, use the arrows on the side of
the box to scroll through the list.
The blue button is your moving options, here you can erase or move objects and
enemies, flip something around so it's facing the way you want, or reset the
whole map.
The red button is your map options, here you can seve your map, do a play test
or exit the map, note that in order to do a play test you need to save and name
your map first.
The yellow arrow buttons are your undo/redo buttons, you can undo something as
much as you like. You can hold the undo arrow to unmake a whole map, then hold
the redo arrow to remake it, why? because seeing a map being unmade then remade
looks steller.
The last one is your limit bar, it's a light blue bar with the numbers 0-100 on
it, when it hits 0 you can't place anything else on the map unless you delete
something.

/Making A Map [MAKE05]\
Starting A Map
----------------
When you start a map you will have one Mini and one exit, the idea of any map
is to get all Minis to the exit. There are two types of maps you can make, you
can make an obstacle course type that has one, maybe two Minis or you can make
one like the main game with up to six Minis that need to work together to make
it to the end.
You need to keep in mind with any map that ALL Minis need to make it to the end
in order to complate the map, if you place a Mini in front of something that
will kill it than the map will never work. However you could make it so a Mini
is in danger, place it on a Conveyor Belt that will drop it into a spike pit or
have an enemy walking towards a Mini. With something like that you will have to
move that Mini before it dies, making the map a little harder.
Making An Obstacle Course Map
-------------------------------
The idea of an obstacle course map is to make it as hard as possible to get one
Mini to the end, you can have two Minis but anymore will make it messy. The
easiest way to make a map hard is to add one block jumps, they are easy to make
and are hard to time. They look something like this, it's also a good idea to
| put spikes, water, lava or a pit with
_______ [] [] [] ______| an enemy under them, this way if you
_______| [] [] [] [] |______| fall it will be fatal. These can be
[] [] | made with normal blocks, but you can
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^| make it harder by using Donut Blocks,
Iron Frames or Fake Blocks. This obstacle alone will make any map harder, just
make sure that it "Can" be done or it will just make a map annoying, not hard.
Another obstacle you can make is having a Warp Pipe end at water or lava, then
add a Yellow Raft or a Rock Raft at the bottom. The obstacle will look like
this, by making it this way you will need to| _____
time before going down the pipe, this can be|=|_ _|=========================
tricky and mostly luck, if you run down it | \ \_____________________
without looking or wait too long you might | \ \
miss the raft. You could also use a Moving | \_____________________ \
Platform at the end, however with that you | \ \
will have to put something under it or make | |_____|
it high enough that the fall would break the|
Mini. One other thing you can try is putting|
spikes at the end with a ShyGuy on top of |
the spikes, this way you will need to land |%%%%%%%%%%%%%%[->]%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%
on top of the ShyGuy in order to live. The |%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%
longer the pipe the harder it will be to time it, keep in mind that if it's too
long you might not make it and just keep missing, this makes the map annoying.
If you really wanted to get tricky with your map you can make a bridge made of
Pink Blocks with Piranha Plants under them and Thwomps on top, it would look
__ __ |something like this. The idea is to have one "Full" Pink
<| |> <| |> |Block set next to two empty ones, the ends of the Pink
<| |> <| |> |Blocks will make a spot for you to stand on, this is the
<|__|> <|__|> |spot you will place the Thwomps at, then place Piranha
|Plants under the gaps. In order to pass this obstacle
|you will have to move the Pink Blocks from one spot to
___|another, keep in mind that the Piranha Plants will be
[]00[][] [][] []| |shooting fire at you and it might get stuck on top if
| |you place the blocks too soon. On top of that you have
/\/\ /\/\ /\/\ | |the Thwomps to look out for, stay in one spot for too
| | | | | | | |long and they will smash you. This is a hard obstacle
\__/ \__/ \__/ | |to beat, you need to time it right and move fast without
|| || || | |messing up. The only down side to it is that if you use
any other Pink Blocks on the map then someone can just use them to fill the gap
and run right pass the whole thing, you could use something other then Pink
Blocks, Fire Blocks, Magnetic Blocks or Gray Blocks work can work well also.
Making A Regular Map
----------------------
A regular map is a bit more complicated then a obstacle map, an obstacle map
has one or two Minis and a regular map can have up to six. An easy way to make
a map hard is to add in Color Switches | __
they can be used to block or create a | ___| |
path, as you can see in this image on | / | START
the right. There's red, blue and yellow|| _ | <--
walls and each has a matching button to|| | |__| _______ [R]
go with it, if you press a button then || |==============RRRRRRR=============
the matching wall will close and the || | __ |Y|
other walls will open, so if the yellow|| |_| | |Y| EXIT
wall is blocking your way press the red|| | |Y| ->
or blue buttons to open it, however the| \___ | [B] _______ |Y|
red or blue wall would then close, this|=====|__|=========BBBBBBB=============
could work out for or against you, this|^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
depends on how you make the map. You could make it that by pressing the yellow
button the yellow wall will close, filling a gap for you to walk on and at the
same time opening a different wall for you to pass by. You could also have it
that by pressing one button will free a Mini or enemy or maybe even trap one.
This is more of an obstacle then something you would put in a regular map, but
it works well on both. Place a Swing Bar on one level with Pink Blocks above it
__ | then place a Thwomp above the Pink Blocks. The idea is for
<| |> | you to move the Pink Blocks in order to swing to the next
EXIT <| |> | level, then place the blocks under you before you fall back
<- <|__|> | down, at the same time you will need to look out for the
| Thwomp that will be trying to smash you the whole time.
| This can be a bit tricky to time. If you don't like the
| idea of a Swing Bar you could try using a Spring insted, if
========[][][]====| it is the Thwomp that you don't like you can switch it out
| for a Piranha Plant or a Snifit.
|
_ |
_ |^| | I'm sorry to say that I'm better at making obstacles, traps
| |______|^| | and tricks then I am at making regular maps. You can learn
|_| |^| | more about them by playing the main game, seeing as you'll
| |_| | have to do that to unlock the kits to make your own maps
| | | anyway you might know a lot about what to do already.
| | |
| | |
[_] [_] | If you simply don't know what to make, you could try making
==================| something that isn't a map, that is to say, something that
isn't a start to finish map. Try making an image, build Mario or Peach out of
blocks or other items. Experiment with what you have, see if you can make a map
that can be complete without touching the Mini. Who knows, you might think of
something new that no one ever thought of, your imagination is the limit.

/Wi-Fi Play [WIFI06]\
There are two things you can do with Wi-Fi in this game, from the Construction
Zone menu you will find the Nintendo WFC and Multi-Card options. Nintendo WFC
will let you trade maps with your firends or download new maps over Nintendo
Wi-Fi Connection. Multi-Card will let you trade maps with nearby friends over
local wireless connection.
Nintendo WFC
--------------
When you pick Nintendo WFC you will have four options, synchronize, receive
Nintendo WFC config and WFC friends. Synchronize is what you use to send maps
to your friends, this can be done by selecting synchronize and picking any maps
from the list that you want to send. Receive is where you can receive new maps
from your friends, once you choose a place to save the maps connect to Nintendo
Wi-Fi, once connected choose a player from your friends list and select the map
you want to download. Nintendo WFC config is merely where you go to edit your
Wi-Fi configuration.
The last option for you here is WFC friends, this is where you add or remove
the friend codes you have, you can also find your friend code here. To get your
friend code you must connect to Nintendo Wi-Fi at least once, Once you have
connected to Nintendo Wi-Fi your friend code will be displayed on the left side
of the upper screen. To add a friend code select add, then type in the 12 digit
code that was given to you.
Multi-Card
------------
By selecting Multi-Card you will be able to send and receive maps from other
Nintendo DS systems within a 30 foot radius. You have two options to pick from
here, broadcast and redeive levels. Selecting broadcast will let you send maps
to other Nintendo DS systems within 30 feet of you, if someone is broadcasting
maps you can pick redeive levels for a list of what maps they are sending. This
is the only way to obtain maps if you do not have Wi-Fi.
