In Galileo (ガリレオ), you play as a rookie detective named 内海薫, Kaoru
Utsumi and encounter supernatural phenomenon during cases that require input
from "weirdo" professor Galileo, actually called 湯川学 (Manabu Yukawa) at
Teito University. The pair starts solving cases together on a regular basis.
The game uses a point system for your interrogation, question and search
skills. Each has a percentage and having 100% in all three will result in an S
rank. You do not gain anything for beating a case on a higher rank as far as I
know.

The game explains how Search works. Point the stylus at something interesting
on screen and collect research material. You can go right and left with the
arrows. You can drag the magnifying glass around the screen to see if areas
show up as orange. Searches do not end automatically but you will know when all
is found when obtaining a report. You can then leave with the magnifying glass

Your task in this experiment is to fine-tune the mirror positions so that the
laser bounces off them and hits the targets head. It might be random but I only
had to adjust mirror 2 and 4 and mirror 4 had to aim a little more left that
what the preview looked like. Yukawa will mention which mirror needs adjustment
if you had a miss and even tell you which direction to move the laser target.

There are two methods to crack the password:
I think first of all you need to press the wide green button at the bottom,
then scroll down the list and select NEXT. I think this unlocks the password
backdoor (this might be optional?).
Method 1: Press the third menu item and move the blue butterflies. Each one
has a red dot but only one of them works and takes you to the password input
screen.
Method 2: Press the middle "構造と名称" menu item, click on BACK for a
minigame. You need to drag the leaves on the areas on the left. They will
randomly turn out to be butterflies. This can be quick or take a while. Once
complete you get a message hint about password and the ability to click
"NEXT". Do so and you get to the password input screen.
I would recommend you use method 1 because it is much quicker and I think works
the same. Or maybe the unlocking only needs to be done for the first method and
in the end it is almost the same amount of work.
The password hint is about the butterflies name, Nymphalidae or タテハチョウ
(Tatehachou) in Japanese. The password is the first six letters of the
Japanese name: TATEHA.

Minigame:
You have two minutes to solve this puzzle. Move the bar in this screen towards
you once and then right twice. The female assistant will indicate it is
correct. Move to the right screen and move the bar the same way. Now raise one
of the bars by turning the screw in the middle (with your stylus of course).
This is sensitive so if you do it too fast it will slam into the bar at the top
and fail. You need to have a smooth connection. If you turn too slowly the bar
will lower again. Do the same for the other side. The last part involves
screwing the bars together. Each side has two large ones and two small ones. I
found this part tough because the time limit can be quite tight.

The aim of the next game is to have all steel bars stick out. Moving one will
move others and you need a certain combination. Trial and error will solve the
puzzle but here is a quick solution (labeled 1 through 8 from 1 to 8): 1, 3, 5,
6, 7.
The next part is much harder. You have 2 minutes to solve it. Start by pulling
down the bar and you get more info. The game will also tell you that only three
fails can be endured out of the 8. There are only two kind of movements you
need to make, circular or sideways. The amount of times you need to make the
movements varies.

For this next minigame you have 3 minutes to solve it. First strap the
electricity to the second and last tube. Switch the yellow button on the right
to the lower one as the tutorial showed and then point the stylus on the middle
of the rotor, keeping it held down until the bar is full.
The next part only has 1 minute and you need to unscrew the screws. You should
know that two of them will unscrew the opposite way. Knowing that the time is
not a problem. Just make little rotations around each screw.
The opened panel reveals another 5 minute puzzle. Your goal is to have all
connectors in the off position. Switching one on/off will affect others. Your
goal is to switch off the last ones in on go and it is a little tricky thus you
have a generous amount of time. There is no simple solution for this either.
For the last part you have to select one of the connectors, use the top button
to select the screwdriver and quickly circle around each screw and switch to
the other button before each one slides back into place. They slide back into
place fast thus you will have to do it one by one. When all eight are unscrewed
you should press the return button. The problem is finding the correct
connector. You only need one but chances are you will select the wrong one. The
conversation will reveal if you are correct (in my case it was the right most
one in the center row). Once you are correct, tap on the connector to place the
screwdriver below and then wiggle it around to loosen the connector and finish
this.

After this save you have a few more things to do. The grid will fill on both
sides, you being blue. Answer the puzzles given as fast as you can. If pink
finishes before you then the game is over. If you have not figured out the
third column puzzles: it asks for the missing number. The fourth column asks
which number is duplicate. The fifth column asks for the color and is tricky
because the characters displayed are confusing. Do not read them and just look
at the color: Black in the center, red on the left and blue on the right. The
final column asks for the third last number so you have to memorize a lot. The
very last challenge just wants you to repeat the combination shown. The pink
area will fill quickly at the start but actually slow down a lot later yet you
still have to be rather fast overall.
The next challenge looks impossible but you only need to fill about 2 rows in
the grid to complete it. You have 30 seconds to quickly fill the numbers on the
pad as the numbers come in. The tutorial is kind of clear: tap the numbers as
they appear, ? to reveal a secret number followed by that number, anything else
should be thrown in the trash. What is not quite clear is that the input pad is
shuffled every so often and you will have a hard time finding those inputs, and
this is rather challenging after all.
Select コードを切る at the options and cut all three wires at the same time.
(Cutting the wrong one will give a similar video as when failing one of the
previous challenges, but it is important to note that the video starts the same
if you do it correctly but there is no explosion. Worth checking out.)
