Final Fantasy Tactics A2 - Grimoire of the Rift
This FAQ/Walkthrough is copyright of Alan Quirino (grayfox2510 (at) gmail
(dot) com), 2008.
Ok, so let us go over a few basic things...
1) If you see anything that looks like my guide somewhere else, and you think
it was stolen without my permission, please let me know. Thanks.
2) As of currently, I am not allowing any other sites besides GameFAQs to host
my guides. IGN being a possible exception from time to time, but otherwise,
I'm afraid I must decline your offers under most circumstances. You are,
of course, still free to try. Who knows? Also, under the odds that you are
granted permission, please check regularly the following link for updates.
http://www.gamefaqs.com/features/recognition/8373.html
Sites that have free permission to host my guides are:
+ GameFAQs.com (Remember kids, GameSpot is sort of an affiliate of
GFAQs.com, so they link directly, and thus, they are ok with me)
+ IGN.com (Though they are from time to time)
+ NeoSeeker.com
3) If sending an inquiry about this game, be sure to put, at the very least,
"FFTA2" in the title, just to help me sort my mail. Otherwise,
it might get lost and you get no answer. Do note however, I have the right
to answer you or not. That is, obvious questions or information you could
easily reach in here might not be answered. I normally still answer almost
every mail (Yeah, I'm a good person), though that's not 100% of all cases.
Also, I know my English isn't perfect but at least I tried when writing
this, please do the same when you mail in a question.
My mail is at the top and bottom of this file.
4) Needless to say, this guide is copyrighted according to the DMCA and stuff.
So, please don't steal anything (If you want to use something, a bit of
information or whatever, go ahead, but give proper credit where due).
Just don't take the whole thing.
5) Mails thanking me for the help and whatnot are always appreciated. ^^
(Honestly, they alone are enough to make me keep going sometimes)
Feel free to write in English or Spanish, whichever you prefer. ;p
Technically, I can understand written French, but don't expect an answer in
French.

[000]--------------------00. ToDo, Updates & Forewords-------------------------
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
To Do:
- Finish story missions. 18 done.
- Finish all the quests. So far, 244 done...
- Finish the Clan Report. All other clan sections are done.
- Job stuff. Missing Blue Magicks.
Need the initial skills and job info on most special units. Including
Adelle's Heritor.
- Item section; just missing the loot section. More investigation into the
loot mechanics needed before I can do this though.
- Bazaar should be like 99% complete or so.
- Other stuff, I'm sure. Like the Auction House prizes.
Updates:
- Version 0.60 - Filesize: 1,165,392 (1,138 KBs)
Date: September 26, 2008
And I'm back, after a nachos and coke break (Yes, a 2 month break)...
Even though I don't really like nachos and rarely drink coke nowad--
Guide, right... Quest update. You know the deal. Just 22 for now.
- Version 0.55 - Filesize: 1,109,975 (1,084 KBs)
Date: July 30, 2008
Well, that took a while for a little update. Been very busy, and it's
gonna get worse, so updates MIGHT be even slower.
But yeah, added some quests, that's it.
- Version 0.53 - Filesize: 1,059,635 (1,035 KBs)
Date: July 20, 2008 (Right before midnight)
Redid the Clan Report section. It looked horrible before if you ask me and
was difficult to find a number for a quest...
2 more Story Missions. 32 more sidequests.
- Version 0.50 - Filesize: 954,538 (933 KBs)
Date: July 16, 2008
Finished the Scions section. Courtesy of GameFAQs' board. Added about
26 more quests. Not much else.
- Version 0.45 - Filesize: 889,243 (869 KBs)
Date: July 13, 2008 (3.30 AM... I need to stop writing so early)
Finally done with Nu Mou jobs. Added one more story mission (yay) and
about 22 sidequests (23 counting the story one). That's about it.
- Version 0.40 - Filesize: 837,141 (818 KBs)
Date: July 11, 2008 (4 AM, hah...)
Redid the Job sections and added a special section that sums up all of the
Reaction and Passive abilities of all jobs for a given race for easy
browsing. Finished the Clan Trials, along with the Privileges and Titles
section. Created a section for recruitment information and one on where
to find Chocobos. And of course, a few more quests updated.
- Version 0.35 - Filesize: 749,122 (732 KBs)
Date: July 09, 2008
Bangaa and Seeq job sections finished. All of the item sections done, sans
for the loot one. Did a few more quests. This update was mostly for the
items.
- Version 0.30 - Filesize: 611,273 (597 KBs)
Date: July 08, 2008 (Again, way early. Only 12.15 AM)
Bazaar seems to be complete. I almost finish all the jobs sections except
for Seeq. I will see if I can do all of the items for next update, or
along the way. Not many quests updated.
- Version 0.20 - Filesize: 469,427 (459 KBs)
Date: July 05, 2008 (Waaay early, like 1.30 AM early)
HUGE update to the Bazaar. Otherwise, more quests and more job info.
Story walkthrough up to Fluorgis. Gonna work on the whole myriad of quests
that open up for next version.
- Version 0.16 - Filesize: 386,088 (378 KBs)
Date: July 02, 2008 (Later on the day)
More quests, more bazaar stuff. I included the information for all the
double clan trials and did most of the Clan Privileges. I'm just missing
the correct 'title' difficulties for some of the clan trials I still
don't have access to in my English data.
- Version 0.13 - Filesize: 348,240 (341 KBs)
Date: July 02, 2008 (In the very early hours)
General update all around. Added the information I have so far on Moogle
and Bangaa jobs. Will work on the other races in a future update I guess.
Yes, I know I'm slowing down a bit. Stuff's been happening, I'll pick up
the pace eventually.
- Version 0.10 - Filesize: 263,712 (258 KBs)
Date: June 28, 2008
Ok, so I lied. I was indeed going to quit this. But I decided to make
some changes to make my writing easier and I guess it helps... A bit.
Plus, I think it makes things look nicer now.
I'll try to get some more Job Skill info on the next update.
Yes, I am picking out version numbers at random. *Shrugs*
- Version 0.08 - Filesize: 230,618 (225 KBs)
Date: June 27, 2008
What can I say, I originally wasn't so sure to do this guide, but decided
to go with it in the end. I hope I can make it as complete as my FF XII
one.
Forewords:
I hope I don't lose interest on this guide midway...
Almost did, btw. And please forgive my somewhat slow updates sometimes;
I'm currently raiding on World of Warcraft almost half day on Sat/Sun and
4~5 hours on Mon/Tue/Fri. XD

--------------------------------02. Walkthrough--------------------------------
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
When you are looking for a particular mission/quest, just search for its name.
You should get there pretty quickly.
It helps if you add a dash (-) after the name, directly after it, no spaces.
As a note, I won't list the Law Bonuses, since there seems to be either
multiple sets per mission, or they are entirely dependant on your current
position on the game, items available, and what not.

[021]----------------------02.01. Story Walkthrough----------------------------
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
Well, before we get down to an mission, you will end up having to answer
some questions. These questions will decide which clan privileges you get from
the beginning.
Clan Privileges are basically small powerups that affect your whole side during
an engage. In the previous FFTA, when you broke the law, the character could
go to jail. Now, when you break the law, you lose the effect of your clan
ability, you can't revive allies and you don't get item bonuses at the end.
But no more jail anymore.
Start with Luso's name if you wanna change it.
Then you'll get your question homework. There are a LOT of options, so I won't
list out each result (maybe not yet). Here are some key abilities you might
like having from the get-go.
Bonus AP 1: B, C, C.
Bonus EXP 1: B, C, B.
Luck 2: A, A, C. (Thanks to Javier)
Power Up 2: B, B, B.
Evade Up 2: B, A, A.
Speed Up 2: B, C, A.
Bonus CP 1: B, C, C.
Bonus Gil 1: B, A, C.
Smash G.B.1: B, B, A. (Thanks to V. Orlando for the last ones)
Personally, I chose Bonus AP 1. Do note, there are other ways to get these
abilities. I just listed those I know.
1. This summer I'm going to...
A) Hang out with my friends!
B) Play video games non-stop!
C) Study for next year!
2. As a personal goal, I want to...
A) Be able to swim half a mile!
B) Get my warrior to level 75! (Hah, FF XI reference)
C) Learn a foreign language!
3. Next year I promise not to...
A) Misbehave in class.
B) Oversleep in the morning.
C) Let my dog eat my homework. ...Maybe I can find a cat. =D
Busted. I mean... Yeah, follow along with the story, you'll be in Ivalice in
no time after a not-so-unfamiliar sequence...

Objective: Defeat Klesta!
Forbidden: Ranged Weapons.
- Attack with bows, greatbows, guns, hand-cannons, and cards are
forbidden.
NOTES
¯¯¯¯¯
This fight might not be the hardest of the book (First and last pun, sorry),
but it has it quirks. You control Luso, a Viera White Mage, and a Nu Mou Black
Mage (names are randomly chosen). I will pretend you know what they both excel
at.
Heed the tutorials from them before you start doing your own thing. It's a
quick refresher in case you haven't played a Tactics in a while.
Luso starts decked out as a Soldier, the default Hume job, basically. That
means that he can swing a sword and can take a bit of pain. It's up to you if
you want to go directly for Klesta, or hit the small guys first. Just be
sure to back yourself up with the other two units. Cid will fight on his own,
so pay heed to that guy.
Be careful of Klesta though. Its Territorial Marking can hit a + zone a good
distance away from him, so try to keep your units spread to minimize damage.
Though, if you are lucky, he might fancy your Black Mage over anything else.
His peck is a melee-type skill, so use your White Mage to heal up.
Luckily, you only have to bring Klesta to about half HP or so and it runs away.
----------
You might wish to save on the world map. Just press X, then go to System and
into Save. Otherwise, go ahead and move to Wood Village.
You will get to name your Clan about here. Not sure, but Gully is not on my
list of ok names... So yeah.
Eventually, you'll be back in the world map. Follow the instructions and head
into the pub again. Not that you can do much else, mind you...
You will only be able to get "A Paw Full of Feathers" for the time being. So
go ahead and accept that. It's your next story mission, after all. You can now
hit the shop. No, just do it.
The selection is... bad, so to speak. Try to leave the shop and the Bazaar
option will be added. Feel free to head down to the section to see all the
things you can get. Go ahead and get the new sword for Luso. Hop to your next
mission.

Objective: Defeat all foes!
Forbidden: Fire
- Weapons and abilities that use fire are forbidden.
NOTES
¯¯¯¯¯
Choose your units. You will only be missing one out of your whole rooster.
There's no real need to go into deep strategy just yet, so you can make your
own party right now without trouble at all.
A White Mage is always suggested though. Your Black Mage can be useful, as long
as you remember NOT TO use Fire. The Bangaa Warrior is a good hitter, and
the Archer can back you up from afar. The Thief is fast, and has decent hit.
Mix-and-match. Also, as a personal suggestion just in case. Try not to stick to
the same units all the time. Spread out, get more units, have different jobs
ready and on par with your level. You never know when you'll need 'em.
You will then be able to choose a Clan Privilege. They are small bonuses (at
least right now, since you only have the lesser ranks available). Take your
pick.
On with the mission though.
You can't exploit weaknesses yet, so just gang up on the same guy and bring it
down. Rinse and repeat. You'll see this strategy works a lot, but try to put
the guys who can take the hit near the enemies so that they don't gang up on
your mages in return.
--------------
Once you are done, you should head back to town. You will lose Cid for the
time being. Do the usual, shop, get your quests... Etc. To note, story missions
have no days limit when you look them up in the pub.
It's up to you if you want to rush the story or do the sidequests as they come
along.

Camoa, I'm finished!

NOTES
¯¯¯¯¯
You are probably at a slight disadvantage in terms of raw level, but at
least you don't have the silly AI controlling all of your units. On the flip
side, that unit the AI is taking over on your side is lv6. =D
The Archer is going to be doing Focus before attacking. Her hits might put a
nice dent on you, so be careful. The White Monk will require a beating, while
at the same time, you gotta make sure you don't cluster together for a magick
swoop from that Black Mage.
Since the White Monk and Thief are coming for you first, fight them on the
way or deal with them quickly. The Animist will probably use 100% Wool on the
first turn, getting Shell and Protect for 3 turns. Not a problem, really.
Once you reach their back lines, avoid hitting the Animist if you can when he
has Protect, unless of course, he's the only one left. Kill them in your
preferred order. They shouldn't give you too much trouble.
----------
You can now leave this area and head into the next one, Camoa Highroad.
It's up to you if you wanna head right away or check the pub for more quests.
When you reach the city of Camoa, you'll have an event that'll unlock the
next story mission for you.

Did I mention quivering stalks, or slavering fangs?
I was out for a stroll the other day and one bit clean through me britches! I
doubt me or me britches are the only victims here. Help!

Writing this from memory. I was almost going to quit writing this thing, you
know?
Besides the Alraune, you have 4 other freaks. They are all fairly weak,
especially if you've been doing the sidequests. They will usually attack you
normally, or using a tackle they have that barely hits for more, if anything.
Aside from your team (5 guys, plus Cid), you'll have Adelle, a female Thief on
your side. She's controlled by the AI of course, but she should be able to
pull her weight on a hit or two. The fight, overall, couldn't have been
easier.
-----------
After the mission head back to Camoa. You'll pick up the next quest soon
enough...

Kinda doing this one from memory. You'll have some wolves, the small
cockatrices, or chickatrices, whatever, and Ugohr himself.
Remember your objective is killing the turtle, everything else can be bypassed,
though extra loot is extra loot if you ask me.
Ugohr will, on occasion, target himself and some of your units inside a +
shapped earth attack that will heal him, but hurt you. Of course, it's only
like a 40~ heal at most, so not a big deal. He should fall quickly in the
end. With or without everything else dead.
