This walkthrough provides step-by-step instructions for completing Aliard's Tome
from beginning to end. As such, it will contain spoilers for every
puzzle, so do not read this if you'd rather attempt to solve them yourself.

This guide consists of three parts.  The first part is a list of commands the
text parser recognizes.  The second part provides some more general hints. The
third part provides the game's solution.



Text Parser Commands

All text commands consist of one word or a two word phrase in the form VERB
NOUN.

N (for north)
S (for south)
E (for east)
W (for west)
L (for look)
I (for inventory)
H (checks your health)
SCORE
GET OBJECT
TAKE OBJECT (equivalent to GET OBJECT above for all purposes)
DROP OBJECT

General Hints:

You can save and load the game at any time but there's only one save slot.
Saving the game overwrites previous saves.

Not every of the above commands is necessary to complete the game.  Similary not
every object is necessary to complete the game and some are even harmful if not
used properly.

EXAMINE is a very useful command.  Not only can you examine objects on the
ground or in your inventory, but also some things in room descriptions.

Numbers next to objects denote their weight.  Some objects are weightless and
have no number.  Some objects have no number but are too heavy to carry, mainly
chests and furniture.

You lose health with every action you take.  You lose even more health if you
are carrying more than 40 pounds worth of objects unless you complete a specific
task first.

One room in the caves restores your health on entering it, and you can enter it
any number of times.

* around an object means that it adds to your score when it is in your
inventory.  In total objects contribute 99 points of score; completing the game
awards the last point.

As long as clothing items (gauntlets, boots, gas mask) are in your inventory,
you will use them automatically when necessary.  Walking around without boots or
shoes will cause more health damage over time.

Most rooms are dark.  An early goal is to get a lamp.  You can interact with
objects in a dark room the same way you can in a lit room.  Lighting a match
will show the room's description and objects in the area for a brief moment.

It is possible to get stuck and make the game unwinnable.  However the game has
no randomness to it (except for one minor part at the end), so the solutions are
the same every time you play.



Step-by-Step Walkthrough

This is not a unique solution.  It is possible to complete the game by
performing some actions in a different order or skipping optional treasure.
