Story
-----

"While sailing across uncharted water in the South Pacific searching for the
ruins of a lost civilization, a sudden storm ravishes your vessel. As you ship
sinks, you struggle to keep afloat, knowing that your only chance is to reach
the island that looms in the distance. A raft from the ship floats nearby.
Swimming with grave determination through shark infested waters, you reach the
raft and manage to clamber aboard. Now you stand a chance.

Food and water are your next concerns. Without an adequate supply, you will
surely perish. Occasional debris from the ship floats by as you slowly drift
toward your destination. Containers of food and water appear. If you could only
collect them before you reach the island, you would be able to live on them
while you explore the island."

You start on a raft in the ocean, far away from the island in the distance. The
goal is to collect supplies as they pass by and reach the island alive. The
playing area is only the bottom half of the screen, the top half is the island
and the surrounding water. It's a little obscure how to reach the island at
first; the island will gradually appear closer in the background and extend
itself to cover the top half of the screen completely.

When your shipwrecked man can reach the shore around the middle of the screen,
you should get receive the message, "On land", and a short, three-note tune
will repeatedly play. Stick close to the top of the playing area while using
the FIRE button to swim fast and you should reach the shore anywhere between
250 to 300 duration (the in-game timer on bottom left).

It's best not to stick there all the time, however, due to Sharks, Seaweed, or
the Creature that will likely knock you out of the raft or kill you (and
presumably eat you). Sharks and the Creature aren't too hard to dodge; swimming
up/down and then quickly swimming left/right or diagonally to avoid them is
simple enough. When the Submarine appears, move away as far as you can and
laterally to dodge the shot it fires at you. It's not the end of the world when
it hits you though.

The Seaweed needs to be avoided too. It will knock you out of your raft. The
Octopus will give you about 10 life points when you touch it while you have at
least one food box. You should keep the raft at all costs; when you get hit you
also lose all your food and water supplies. When you do happen to lose your
raft, collect another one ASAP, don't land on the island without any supplies.
Just reset at that point or you will die a quick, frustrating death.

The goal here is to reach the temple at the top of the map (represented by
"!"). To get there, you have to bribe some guards with cash and collect items-
the Amulet, Compass, Lantern, and the Key- that you can use inside the temple.
You will see bridge guards on the top-down transitions on occasion- you won't
be able to continue unless you give him coins (represented by "$").

You gradually lose health points when you walk around, more so when you walk
through water, so you have to keep your health up with the food and water boxes
you collected during the first part. There are traps that are hidden in almost
every screen, somewhat annoying when you walk around and die because you step
on one. I'll map there they all are through the game.

Each area is roughly analogous to a goal that should be completed.

Part 1: Find some cash, collect a few items

The Temple
----------

----------------------
|Hazards & Objects Key |
------------------------------------------
| #  - Wall                + = Start Point | Password: 610012 15000
| *  - Barrier             K = Key Item    |

| >^ - 1-way Wall                          |
|                                          |
------------------------------------------

The temple area is an old-school first person dungeon crawl similar to
Wizardry, or any old RPG game on the computer like it. I wouldn’t have expected
one on the Atari 2600, but the more you know and all that. The ASCII maps
aren't drawn to scale. Each "#" should represent a position that you move onto,
but it didn't work out that way. It's not hard to follow either way. Use the
compass to follow the directions, I wanted to be consistent with it instead of
the movements on the screen. The maze stays the same but the key items are
randomized every time you play.

Part 1:

N  ###########
^  #K        #
|  ##### ### #
   #     #+# #
   ### # #   #
   #K# # ### #
   #   #  K# #
   ##### ### #
   *         #
   ###########

The key item can be found in any of the spots noted on the map. Look in each
spot and proceed to the barrier to deactivate it.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Part 2:

N  ###########
^  #     #K#K#
|  #*# ### > #
   ### # # # #
   #   #   # #
   # ##### # #
   #       # #
   ##### ### #
       #    +#
       #######

You will encounter a new hazard here: 1-way walls. It appears as an open path
while you are on the outside of it; when you walk past, it will close and
become a wall. Find the key item and disable the barrier.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Part 3:

N  ###############
^  #  +#K        #
|  # ####### #####
   #   #        &#
   #   #####   ###
   #      K#   #
   # ### ###   #
   #   # >     #
   ###*#########

You will find a warp here. It warps you back to the start point for this area
when you walk into it. It's invisible but you will hear a beep noise when you
pass through it. The key is in either locations on the map. When the key isn't
in the nook in the first big room, it will be corridor past the second big
room. Take it and use the warp back to the start point.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Part 4:

N  ###############
^  #  +  #       #
|  #     ##### % #
   ### ###   #   #
   # # #   #     #
   # # # #K#######
   # # # ###   #
   #         # #
   # #### #### #
   #K#         #
   ###  ###### #
   #    #      #
   ######*######

Starting to get more complicated now. It introduces the rotator, which will
blank the screen and seemingly turn you in a random direction. When you have
the Amulet, it will glow when you are within one square of the rotator. It's
not of much significance, or rather annoyance, in this area.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Part 5:

            1
N  #############
^  #      + &# #
|  # # # # ### #
   # ### # < # #   #######*#
  2#&  # #   # #   #     # #
   ##### ##### #   # ### # #
   #           #   #  &# # #
   #K#     # #K#  2#& %#   #
   #############   #########
                      1

This area has multiple warps, it's not too hard to navigate though. The key
item is either corner of the open area south. Use the warp directly E of where
you start to find the barrier.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Part 6:

N  #################
^  #   #         < #
|  #   ###%    ### #
   #%    #     # # #
   ###+#    &    < #
     ###     %   #&#
       # ### ### # #
       #K#   #   # #
       ###########*#

There are large open sections instead of corridors in this area, along with
quite a few rotators. I haven’t thoroughly tested the location of the key item
in here; I assume that there’s more than one place where it appears. In my
case, you can get the key item and walk into the warp in the middle of the
open section- be careful to avoid the rotators- and you will reappear in a
corridor where you can find the barrier.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Part 7:

       #############
       # #        +#
       # ### #^### #
       #     #   > #
       ### ### ### #
         # #     < #
         # ### ### #
             #   > #
             ##### #
              #  < #
                ## #
                 > #
                 ###

You are near the end of the temple now; why not a challenging area filled with
1-way walls and actual labyrinthine corridors. Sure. It’s sort of confusing
for me, I’ll map this area out properly soon.
