2. Introduction
=============================================================================
What does Nuts, in any explanation of the word, have to do with Nuts, the
Atari 2600 game? Absolutely nothing! I guess the producers just liked an
obscure title. Nuts is a shooter where you have too many responsibilities -
too many ways to die. You have to not only worry about enemy fire and your
only two lives, but also the enemy crossing the walkway. All this added up
makes Nuts a pretty good, fast-paced, though frustrating, video game.

3. Dedication
=============================================================================
I dedicate this guide to all Atari 2600 gamers out there. They really keep
this system alive, even though it seems "dead." Atari 2600, in a lot of
people's minds, was the first gaming console ever created. This really isn't
true, as there were other obscure systems before it. However, this was most
people's first video game system - this is the system that brought them into
gaming. And so, I dedicate this guide to the Atari 2600 gamers that still
play this old system and keep it alive.
This guide is also dedicated to Brian P. Sulpher and AboveAverage. Where did
you go, AboveAverage? You told me which system to write for! And of course,
Brian taught all of us that you can write billions and billions of guides for
old games.

While four enemies are walking on the cakewalk above you, it's your job to
shoot at them from below. If they make it to the side, they'll alternate
between the two walkways and one of your ten enemy lives will be taken away.
When ten enemies successfully make it across the walkway once, the game ends.
Things can also end if you die twice.
But how would you die? After four or five kills, the enemies above start to
walk a little faster and shoot down below. If they shoot you, one of your two
lives is lost. Your job is to dodge their fire while killing them before they
make it across the walkway. Yes, this is pretty difficult.
To make things a little bit easier, you have automatic fire, so you can
always be firing at something. And you also only have to kill four enemies,
which is another plus. Enemy kills give you points, but don't be frustrated
if you only get a few thousand points, as there are WAY too many ways to die
in this game.
That's basically it - the game gets very tough after the first four kills.
It's pretty fun to see how long you can last, but it really depends on luck
of enemy fire, because they randomly drop shots down on you. You can move to
the very end of the screen for a safe area, but enemies will, in the mean
time, be destroying your enemy count.

6. Strategies
=============================================================================
A few strategies/pointers.
* Keep your finger glued on the fire key. Since we have rapid fire, there
is no reason why you shouldn't be firing all the time.
* Precedence should be to the enemies closer to making it across the
walkway. Remember, you only have ten walkway lives, so make sure the
foes don't make it across.
* Only four enemies can be crossing the rafts at one time.
* After a few kills the enemies start to fire shots of their own at you.
This is completely random - every few seconds they'll fire one off.
* The very end of each side is a small safe zone. Don't use it unless you
have to, because you're giving the enemies more time to cross the
walkway.
* Line up your shots, and move on quickly. Make sure that where you shoot
is a little after the enemy, so it will hit them by the time they reach
that area.
* Snipe in the middle if you have to. That way, you can at least stop
anyone who hasn't passed the center yet.
* Possibly, if you can get all four enemies going one way, you can
control the tempo of the crossing by just spamming in the center.
However, this would mean letting two pass, and making sure everyone
doesn't go to another raft.
* Killing enemies right out of the box is also good. Don't try to kill
enemies just going into the teleport box, though, as they will most
likely teleport before you kill them.
* Only way to score in this game is to kill the enemy.
* If ten enemies make it across, you lose one life.
* Try to bunch up the enemies in twos at least, so you only have to worry
about two enemy blocks instead of four.
* Never randomly move around; always be heading to some enemy or some
spawn point. If you don't, you'll find dying in two ways to be too much
to handle.

7. Frequently Asked Questions
=============================================================================
Question: How many lives can you have?
Answer: Two lives.
Question: Who are the four guys on the rafts above me?
Answer: Enemies that you need to kill to get points. If they make it across
the walkway, one of your ten walkway points will be taken away.
Question: So I have to worry about death AND the guys getting across?
Answer: Yep - this dual death makes the game more challenging, and
therefore more fun. Things definitely aren't dull.
Question: Best tip?
Answer: Always hold the fire button down - automatic fire is a godsend.
Question: Why was this game called "Nuts"?
Answer: Not sure. Maybe we're throwing Nuts at one another, or the enemies
are called Nuts? Perhaps Nuts has to do with the dual death
feature, making you go crazy after a little while?
Question: How many players can play?
Answer: Just one.
Question: When did this game come out?
Answer: Not known currently.
Question: Who created this game?
Answer: Not known currently.
Question: My game doesn't work, how do I get it to work!?
Answer: You might have a corrupted version of the game, or perhaps the old
2 K version, which doesn't work very well.
Question: Where can I get this game?
Answer: The Atari 2600 hasn't had any new games made for years, so you
can't buy it from them. You can get the game at a garage sale or
ebay, if you like. ROMs also work, if you have the game and it is
broken, that is. I'm sure Activision made one of their "five hun-
dred games-in-one," too, and you get one from them.
