1. What's New?
==============================================================================
Version 1.0 -- 9/24/03 -- Original version of guide.
==============================================================================
2. Introduction
==============================================================================
Welcome to my twenty second walkthrough on the Atari puzzle, Amidar! This
guide will cover the basics of the game, as well as strategies on how to get
those boring brown paths. This marks my fifth walkthrough in the Atari 2600
gaming system of hopefully many more to come. I like Amidar a lot for a couple
of reasons. One being the name is weird. Two being the brown path idea is
very unique and easy. And three being it is like an easier version of every-
one's parent's favorite game, Pac-Man. This game does have Pac-Man excitement,
but it is a lot easier then Pac-Man.
==============================================================================
3. Dedication
==============================================================================
I decided to dedicate this guide to all Atari 2600 gamers out there. They
really keep this system alive, even though it seems "dead." Atari 2600, in a
lot of people's minds, was the first gaming console ever created. This really
isn't true, as there were other obscure systems before it. However, this was
most people's first video game system. This system is what brought them into
gaming. What lead most of them to all those sleeplessly fun nights. And so, I
dedicate this guide to the Atari 2600 gamers that still play this old system
and keep it alive.
This guide is also dedicated to Brian P. Sulpher and AboveAverage. Brian for
showing me that you can write for very old systems. AboveAverage for showing
me which system to write on... the Atari 2600!

Brown Paths
==============================================================================
6. Overview
==============================================================================
Your main objective in this game is to get the whole brown pathway to light
up. To do this, you must walk past it. But it is more hard then that. You
don't think the game would make it that easy, do you? Everyone has got there
usual bad guy. And these bad guys are what I call "pigs." I name them after
the baddies in the second level (because those are really bigs). Anyways,
you have to get all the brown pathways to line up with pigs trying to hit you.
What happens if they hit you, you might ask? Well, you die and get a game
over, of course! If you are got getting the drift of the game it is like Pac-
man, but a lot easier because all you have to do is light up the paths. Once
all the paths are lined up, you will move onto a harder level.
-----------
Brown Paths
-----------
These paths are they key of the game. They will form a square, with a lot of
brown lines in the middle. You have to walk past all of these brown paths.
Once you walk past one of them, it will light up. Once all of of the brown
paths are lighten up, you have beaten the level. This is obscurely familiar
to Pac-Man.
----
Pigs
----
I call them pigs, anyways. These are the baddies, the enemies, the guys that
you want to stomp on until they become bacon. There will be a certain number
of them in every level, and they will get smarter and harder as you go along
until they are so hard, you can't handle it. Well, they might not be that
tough, but they do pose a challenge. These pigs are the only enemies in this
game.
-------
Scoring
-------
There is no scoring in this game, sadly. If you are playing a friend, you can
see if you are able to beat the two levels, however.

7. Winning Strategies
==============================================================================
a) Always take the middle brown paths out first. These are the easiest paths
to get out of trouble at, meaning that there is going to be more then one
way to dodge a pig.
b) Always keep an eye out on all the pigs, they have techniques that could
block all your pathways.
c) Never underestimate the pigs. I have had games where they are all the way
on the other side and they still managed to trap me.
d) Run your way out of harms way. This means that if you get stuck, always
look for a way out before you try to dodge them.
e) Dodging is another viable option, though it is tough to get the pig off
your trail. Use dodging as a last resource, don't invite it.
f) Hitting a outside corner one at a time is a good thing. Don't go around
the horn without going in the middle, or you are a goner.
g) Don't let the pigs box you in. They are really good at that. One get's one
side, and the other get's the opposite side and you accidently go into a
pig. Try not to let them box you in.
h) Don't let them "superbox" you in, either. I am dubbing when there is no way
out as "superboxing" because the pigs have done a "super" job in slaying
you.
i) As you progress to the next level, make sure to keep an eye out for the
enemies as they do out of the ordinary things.
j) Your character can only tackle one brown path at a time, so don't jam the
control right just after you jammed it up. If you do so, you might turn
right before you are suppose to.
k) Try to "left right" strategy. This strategy is to go left, then go up, then
go back to the right. This sometimes fools enemies on your back.

8. FAQ
==============================================================================
Question: My game doesn't work, how do I get it to work!?
Answer: You might have a corrupted version of the game, or perhaps the old
2 K version, which doesn't work very well.
Question: Can more then one person play at once?
Answer: Sadly, no. This game was designed for one player only. However, you
can play to see if you can beat both levels the game has to offer.
Question: How many levels are there?
Answer: Two unique ones, to be exact.
Question: What is a pig?
Answer: It is the name I dubbed for the enemy. It looks like a pig, doesn't
it?
Question: The pigs keep boxing me in, help!
Answer: Just look at the strategies and use them. Trial and error also works
quite well, in fact.
Question: Why did they name this game Amidar?
Answer: No clue at all. If you know, they please tell me.
Question: Where can I get this game?
Answer: The Atari 2600 hasn't had any new games made for years, so you can't
buy it from them. You can get the game at a garage sale or ebay, if
you like. ROMs also work, if you have the game and it is broken,
that is.
