I remember this.

Prepandemic I wanted to get into communities, but had nothing to
anchor me. Like, I was just trying to find somewhere I could do
things on and talk to people.

Well after the pandemic started I allowed music back into my life.
Always loved it, played in every school band available, did my own
solo noise thing after a year in a metalcore band; after my mom
died in 2015 I stopped playing and making and even started to lose
my interest in finding new stuff. I tried a lot of other hobbies
while I was figuring out how to live after a funeral. Poetry was
the one that stuck the most, but I never really felt like I "got
it".

Then the pandemic hit and I was at home all the time and going
stir crazy so I bought a bass (sold all my previous ones years
ago), and shortly after that, discovered synthesizers and of
course modular synthesis. When I learned it was pretty much what I
was doing with my noise project, but with more knobs, I was
hooked. When I learned I could build my own modules, and even
eventually design my own circuits, I knew what I wanted to do as a
career.

I'm not there yet. I have learned the engineering and internal
tooling needed to create a synthesizer module from scratch. I have
yet to engage with any kind of logistics with retailers,
individuals, etc who would want to buy something like that, and
even less of an idea of scale/storage/inventory etc. But none of
that seems nearly as complex as everything up to this. If I
already learned how to make my own circuits, use CAD tools, order
stuff, build it, troubleshoot it, etc, the rest is just process
stuff.

Anyway. I have two modules done out of the 7 total for this first
phase. Its all for a synth panel  in the Serge/CGS/Loudest Warning
format, 4U, 8 rows, 17 columns an inch apart.

I have been wanted to write a development log, somewhere,
regarding it. But I don't have a blog already and don't feel like
setting one up. But I have gopher spaces. sooooo why not. Maybe
out of the other 30 people on gopher I'll run into the one into
synthesizers.
