Against Privacy & Security

This is insane. For me it is hard to understand why those guys do not go
mad. When you will think about all those privacy and security matters, when you
will drill down in forums, articles, opinions, you will conclude that nothing is
private and secure. Think about security. Windows is not secure, because it
siphons data directly through telemetry. Linux is not secure, because exploitable
sandboxes, memory-insecure programming languages, because release models. BSDs are
not secure, because no Secure Boot support et cetera, et cetera. No one will even
start debate on security of FreeDOS, Haiku or OpenIndiana. Probably your only
haven is TempleOS. There will always be a reason to say: "X is insecure" or "Y is
HIGHLY insecure". Should we just zero all disks and throw all computers smart
devices on trash? We could probably establish an Order of Technology Refugees.

What about privacy? Chromium and derivatives are not private, because Google.
Firefox and derivatives are not private, because you can be easily fingerprinted.
Safari is not private, because Apple. We are probably condemned to w3m, lynx or
curl.

I am wondering why privacy and security fanatics do not go insane? It is
never-ending race which probably cannot be won in 100%. There does not exist
absolute privacy and/or security. You can encrypt thrice your VM nested in
another VM which runs one-time, disposable laptop, but you are vulnerable to
rubber-hose cryptography. You will not see "wrong actor" who knows that you have
not updated your hardened de-googled browser 3 seconds after new release. They
will hack your PC within that 10 seconds, they were always watching you, wanted to
see you are lurking Hacker News and downloading manga via torrents.

This is insane.

Maybe instead of Holy Privacy and Security we should embrace Simplicity? Why do
you need 3 browsers? Why do you need next application allowing for doing same
thing as in browser? Why do you need to have zilion of settings clickable in 1
window? It is not about using only what you need, it is about questioning oneself
why do you need such thing. It is about reducing clutter in your life and
understanding that PC or phone is only a tool for you, not vice versa. Are you
afraid that you will be hacked and they will steal your data? Make an offline
backup, you will restore and be golden in an hour. Will they have your data? Yes,
fuck it. They lose, because they cannot see your external disk in your drawer. Are
you afraid that Big Tech will know everything about you? Just stop using their
services, there are alternatives. But at first question yourself why do you need
such services. Keep everything locally, no Big Tech will remove it. Be local. And
start learning. You need to understand what you are using. If you understand those
things, no one will surprise you. If you cannot understand it, learn harder or
throw it out. You do not need it.

We are lazy as fuck and our laziness destroys us. Do something to be less lazy
than most people.
