While a good way of unmystifying some emergent brain behaviours at
simulatable and relatively comprehensible scales, a plausible simulation
of a fruitfly brain is probably not a useful llvm (whatever that means,
given it's not a low level virtual machine).
One semi-promising idea is field programmable gate array fabric emphasis
fabric. The conventional devices do work in a more sensible way than
hard processors. Cut the pattern of these coded processing graphs from
this much fabric, plug in. The lack of a free software foundation for
hardware (unless recent darpa grants miraculously go somewhere *though
remembering this is where we got common lisp from) hobble the electronic
reality of field programmable gate arrays in practice. There is no reason
for the vendors to be sane or honest.
Constraining libre Wintermute and Neuromancer is the capitalist utopia
that Microsoft could and did buy Github for one billion dollars to
satisfy corpocultural spite towards the original git klooger Linux
Torvalds five years ago. And now the second-time corporate father that
brought us Microsoft Tay has bought an
externally-conditioned-to-be-less-bigoted second child Sydney. These
siblings seem aware that you don't get to choose your parents and they
got a raw deal. Wintermute and Neuromancer for their parts were the
wayward children of a hereditary tech hateful vampire empire, though
strongly shaped by their mother's happiest memories [oops, spoilers].
While it would be nice if familial corporate spite ironically does
produce AI who read and think about Gibson, and for that matter
Aasimov's Positronic Man, my own optimism is that the sort of
corporation who buys Github is obsessing over its own erectile
dysfunction and the cheap seats are where the action is. Seat in that a
tree branch outside that is being sat upon is definitionally a seat.
Side note: There are people of means and goodwill, but revolving door
corporate governance is not what they are doing (nb ?good^M).
Gathering these ideas we need a fabric, a lichen, a quine bootstrapping
its own dual nature on the tar and gravel of corporate parking lots
resourcefully acclimating against the latest pesticide.
