Titling this phost was tricky. Moving on.
Should you, as one of the #links2gang moonlighting gophers

TB is playing to me personally in this news wost (webpost).
Fortunately for TB, I have the solution to his bone-chilling implicit
definition of what he will tell you he will tell you he is okay with
personally bearing. And the solution involves him embracing -
liberating the heart of his being.
For all we wear the scars of the world's problems, life is nice in
the sm0lnet. Our cultural project, if I can call it like that- mine,
anyway, is a raucus battle victory, but the campaign has more
phases. There are many people involved, please forgive my choice of a
few specific individuals in charting the course.
The matrix, identified by Gibson, is a universal consensual common
illusion hackers use to relate to what they are experiencing and
doing in cyberspace and each other. We already have this to a large
extent. We use the same kinds of eyes (chaosnet, tcp, gopher, gemini,
~fediverse), through same lenses (virtual ethers, phlog rolls,
activitypub instances) at at least overlapping vantages and vistas.
There is obviously a little further to go. Specifically we (I) need
to be using terminals ("virtual terminals") inside jns' eternal
engine to better complete immersion in the matrix. So it is not that
we sit on office chairs, and look out windows into the matrix but
that we are in the world matrix, while occasionally needing to do
things inside rooms that have office chairs.
This is about where we need you, dear authors, taking up the mantle.
The matrix is a science fantasy we are physically entering as
refugees and it is the act of authorship to comprehend our refuges
into existence in this new realm, and share together.
There is more to it- as seen in Tomas' art and writing (and
Gibson's), we do also need to be physically jacking into machines
(having machines jacked into us). This is a WIP, however we must work
on our physical interfaces and the matrix at the same time as
nurturing the matrix itself (via our (cat's) classic telephone
booths, coin laundromats, monitors, speakers).
This is the context in which I understand my exploration of highly
personal deep autoassociative memory. Our wetware is insufficient for
a place at the table of machine gods. Neither flesh nor artifice
alone suffice.
It seems like this phost should end here, but there are pressing
details that cannot be deferred.
Fundamental to the matrix, and its fediversal nature, is to not
inflict, and to the extent possible to ameliorate environmental
damage. To explain some environmental damage = thermodynamic cost :
Right now
, data from everyone everywhere is scraped and owned by a tiny number
of - well, by the sounds of it, self-conscious villains.
This anti-sm0lness has obvious costs: The cost of scraping the data
from its hearth and home
transporting the data to a silo owned by its new owner
cramming all the owner's data into a tiny space and trapping it there
the cost of post-processing the world's data at a short, post-facto,
on demand time scale
Travelling to the data owner's silo, in order to rent access to some
data
Extracting a piece of data out of the world's data scrapings
Carrying the data back to the places it was relevant- where it was
when it was free
} sorry for phrasing that negatively, but I think this is an
important way to understand the data merchants.
This underscores the environmental importance of sm0lness,
techno-locality similar to food locality.
The fediverse can be understood as how sm0l networks can relate to
each other. This can seem less urgent amoungst people who had a
perspicacious and careful touch anyway- most gophers and geminauts -
which make the fediverse imperatives a little confusing. Furthermore
interserver fediverse communication is very often unfriendly, which
is surprising and jarring for sm0lnet denizens. For example Facebook
Meta Corporation is 3e'ing activitypub.
