OLDER TECH ROUNDUP
"At its peak, the Mother Gopher consisted
       of 10 Apple IIci computers.
But when it was finally euthanized, who
knows what shape it was in.
There was no ceremony. Nothing was carted
       off to a museum."

Let that sink in. Now we're really going back in time.
Ten beige Macs, in the electro mechanical days.
Well how does that measure up now?
A Raspberry Pi would be a thousand times more powerful
and a smartphone would be fifty thousand.

I had one of those desktops, with the 25mhz 68030
and it struggled a bit.

Later I got a PowerMac then an early small
'Intel' iMac in 2006, and another later
one.

And of course Apple, and Steve Jobs made it
too easy for plebs to post on the internet,
one of the elements of its downfall.

I've got an iPhone but it's a 5s, still usable
with care.
I think it gets hammered by the Safari browser.
It's too old to use
Twitter but I can read twitter through Nitter.
I got a browser
recently called RedApp and it works on the
low power phones. And no cringebait ads!

(aside)
I was researching the German singer NICO
on gopherpedia and it says
she was only 5ft tall but on the web version
it says she was five foot ten. Not everything
on gopherpedia is true!

I have an old HP inkjet connected to the OLD
iMac, I keep the mains power uninterrupted
all year to stop the self-cleaning.
I got some cartridges cheap, they were
passing the expiry date, discontinued...
I had to roll back the date on the iMac to 2023 .
The main iMac I'm using is from 2014.
Can I just note that its metal edges
are too sharp on my knuckles, otherwise
awesome.
