Feeding the (smol) pub
------------------------------------------------------------------
One of my favorite things on the small net is aggregators. These
are places where you can read and discover other people’s pages.
It’s a public feed of interesting (ph/gem/b)log. Some of the most
popular ones include:
All the journals in an aggregator have that place in common, they
are essentially neighbors. It’s not uncommon for journals to
mention other journals and engage in conversation. It’s a much
different kind of interaction than one can have with a reply button
such as the one on Midnight. One doesn’t “reply” to a post
— that mechanism isn’t there — instead, one mentions the
other and builds on it.
So now Smol Pub has its own aggregator, which aggregates every
posts from the running instance.
