Upgrading to debian 12 bookworm
Wednesday Mar 6 8:19:09 2024
------------------------------
It is so ironic always saying that I do not want to post the same
stuff both on my blog and on my phlog. But here I am again finding
myself not exactly crossposting but talking about the same thing on
both.
The difference perhaps is that here I feel more free to talk about
the technical part of the matter. Often only to remind myself of how
to do things.
I do have to remember some important things from now on:
(These points are notes to self)
1st. Read the documentation. It is not too long and it always saves
lots of time.
2nd. Remove all software that does not come with debian to ensure the
upgrade goes smooth.
This implies removing keys and extra repositories.
3rd. As usual edit /etc/apt/sources.list to
s/oldcodename/newcodename/ if you want 'stable'.
4th. Run 'apt update' and 'apt full-upgrade' (there is the
possibility of running a minimal system upgrade with 'apt upgrade
--without-new-pkgs')
5th. Enjoy your new stable system :)
