# Treetop

Today we visited the treetop walkway in Steigerwald which is in the
vicinity of Ebrach. There is a lot of construction work going on on
the motorway A3 so most of the way we had a speed limit of 80 km/h. We
even saw a long traffic jam - fortunately in the opposite direction.

The walkway opens at 9 a.m. and we arrived around five past nine, put
our contact details in a box - due to COVID - and entered the almost
completely empty walkway. It was great, most of the way lies at around
20 m above ground.

The highlight is the inverted cone shaped observation tower that
reaches a height of 42 m. A long spiral ramp leads to the top and
there is a platform somewhere on the 3rd or 4th "floor". In the very
middle of the cone is a huge tree.

The canopy walkway itself is not very long, around 1.1 km, but it is a
bit of a walk to get there from the parking lot and back to the car
again.

On our way home we decided to take the federal highway B22 to Bamberg,
but there were a lot of tractors on the road - so no speeding again.

As September arrived the weather switched from ugly to very agreeable
again with temperatures around 26C. If we can trust the forecast we'll
have 28C next Thursday.

Originally we wanted to visit Cheb in the Czech Republic to buy some
Kofola & Treska again, however the Czechs put Germany in the red COVID
category, so you are required to announce every visit online. Maybe
next time...
