# New Year New Responsibilities

Happy New Year!

My ex-boss really pushed me to take on new responsibilities and to
show myself to the management as they always have been complaining -
together with HR - that I am constantly flying under their radar.

I'm sorry, but all the clients I am working with are super happy with
my work and enjoy working with me - that is the feedback I get right
from the clients every year. So what's more important? Happy clients
or me wasting time marketing myself to management so that HR is
happy? After all clients do pay our wages...

Nevertheless finally my ex- and current bosses managed to make HR
clear that happy clients are our goal and that I am really good in
making them happy, so I got a big fat raise and a new job level.  I
am a consultant now. The downside is that I do not have to code that
much myself...

This year I get a new project. Currently I am taking care of three
projects simultaneously, but I'm going to leave one of them next week
to join another, so that the magic number three won't change.

I rather hate the beginnings of a project, there are new people to
get acquainted with, that is not really my strength. Once I know them
I am comfortable, but working with complete strangers is always
difficult. And remotely, too... I'm not comfortable talking to
strangers on the phone, I have always preferred working with
colleagues at least in the same building so that one can drop by at
the other's desk to get something done.

Let's see what this year brings. Maybe I can't cope with the new
responsibilities and get back to customizing and scripting...
