Every five years or so I like to perform one of those personality
tests, either Myers–Briggs or the simpler True Colors. I know self
assessments are not the ideal and some people question these tests
themselves, but they have helped and continue to help me.
For example, I consistently score low on personality attributes
associated with structure and organization (in True Colors speak,
golden is my lowest score). So every time I do one of these tests,
remind myself to pain attention to details regarding organization
and project management.
The organic way I plan and execute my work and personal projects
usually lack a detailed plan and this increases the risks. I know
many of my projects get side-tracked because of lack of organizati
So investing some time doing some project management is a good
investment, the problem is this doesn't come naturally to me and m
fluency writing plans or keeping track of them isn't ideal.
So this last two weeks I spent some time with some project manager
at work, observing and refactoring some easy to follow processes a
workflows to apply on my projects. This provides a reinvigorating
breath of fresh air on my self organization and I can see the resu
of my work more clearly. I like it!
So far I've come up with a brief, easy to write and easy to follow
project plan template document, a quick and low overhead project
review process and two tools to keep track of tasks and milestones |
