| I'm not going to get too explanitory with this since this it's fairly | |
| fringe/guru level hacking and I'm a believer in the user figuring out for | |
| themselves. I provide the background or research material, and you as the user | |
| do with it what you will. | |
| There's actually nothing overly far out about DVB-S stuff, but there is simply | |
| more of a barrier to getting involved becuase it involves more effort than just | |
| banging away at a computer or lab bench. There is an investment involved for | |
| dish(es), receivers, tuners, and then there's the physical installation of the | |
| dish, coax, etc.. Another thing is all the terminology and general scientific | |
| understanding of what's going on. You don't just throw this together and | |
| expect it to work. | |
| When you finally get setup and understand what you're doing, there is a huge | |
| world here to explore and lots of neat stuff to be seen and do. Due to the | |
| captial and labor involved with getting setup, I suppose some folks felt that | |
| "security through obscurity mantra" was sufficient to keep people out, rookie | |
| mistake! | |
