| Introduction to Linux Systems Administration | |
| by Mikko Korhonen | |
| This text is based on a Linux Administration course I taught as a student | |
| at the Oulu Lyseo high school. The content of this English translation is | |
| mostly the same as the taught material, albeit with references to the spe- | |
| cific system configuration in use at the Lyseo removed. | |
| This course originally came to be over 20 years ago, when the student sys- | |
| admin club was established in 1993. I do not know who wrote the orignal | |
| material for the course, but I suspect some influence of it remains in | |
| the present text. I express my gratitude especially to Juho Rinta-Paavola, | |
| who prepared the previous version of the course material that some parts | |
| of this text are based on as well as Riku Karvonen for his assistance dur- | |
| ing my time as the benevolent dictator of the sysadmin club. | |
| In general this course attempts to provide a general look into Linux ad- | |
| ministration. The text does not really form a complete course, as the | |
| original course included recitation sections and exercises. However I | |
| hope this text is at least somewhat useful as a broad introduction to | |
| the topic. | |
