Smoke Bellew
Jack London
Though less famous than some of his other works,
particularly The Call of the Wild and White
Fang, Smoke Bellew is arguably the best of
London's books, and is certainly worth a read by any lover
of his writing, or indeed even anyone interested in a fine
and engrossing adventure. The tale of a journalist who
heads to the Klondike on a reporting expedition, but chooses
to stay for the good, clean, hard living, Smoke
Bellew is a masterpiece of Klondike literature, full of
engrossing characters, exciting dogsled races, mysterious
hidden gold mines, daring rescues, and incredible hardship
met with bravery and aplomb. Well-written and richly
illustrated, Smoke Bellew is a joyful read for all
ages. 183 pp., English.
