An IRC bouncer is a fantastic thing. Once properly configured,
bouncers act as servers that allow you to be connected to your
favourite irc networks/channels 24/7.
The first bouncer I used was irssi proxy on my own network server.
was fantastic because independently of which computer I was sitting
at I could continue chatting without
disconnecting/reconnecting to the channels. I only had to connect
different clients to the bouncer.
However keeping a server is expensive and also time-consuming. For
some time I used my irc client running inside screen and connected
it over ssh. It worked perfectly fine but attaching and reattaching
screen is not very handy if you need to switch from one computer to
the other quickly. | |
Searching the web I discovered GeekBouncer, a free online bouncer
based on the popular znc. So far it works great. It is easy to set
up, to configure and to use.
What else can you ask for? |
