After having to tweak the forum code to gracefully deal with the |
|
crazy long URLs that one typically encounters these days I realized |
|
it might be helpful to provide some URL shortening links so as to |
|
reduce the chance of broken (un-clickable) links due to line breaks. |
|
Floodgap actually has a Gopher-only URL shortener[0] which is now |
|
linked to (main page), however the hunt is still on for a WWW |
|
shortener that I'd feel comfortable listing. SDF used to have a |
|
world-accessible general shortener but due to abuse it's only |
|
available within member shell sessions (type 'surl' to use), though |
|
the links page[1] is still available. Another possble shortener is |
|
https://v.gd[2] which claims to be "an ethical URL shortener". |
|
Can't vouch for the ethics but no registration is required and they |
|
do seem fairly up-front with how they operate. |
|
|
|
Feel free to post suggestions for other non-intrusive general-purpose |
|
URL shorteners in the BottleChat forum. |
