I walked to my bus stop this morning, on my way to work, and noticed
that the traffic light at that corner was blinking. Flashing red. As
if the power had gone out or someone had hit the traffic light
controller. Neither seemed to be the case, but I didn't think much
more about it.
Once on the bus, I saw that the lights at the next intersection
seemed to be fine. But the one after that was also flashing red.
Strange. As we continued, I noticed that every other intersection had
flashing red lights instead of normally functioning traffic lights.
And so it went, all the way to work. Every other intersection.
When I finally got into work, one of my coworkers came in late. "Oh
my god," she said. "Every other intersection had flashing red lights."
