When I was in school, pre-y2k, there was some sort of lesson about
information, and the teacher asked "If you don't know something,
how will you try to figure it out? What is the first step?"
There were several answers given. I didn't dare to give my answer,
since "I would look it up online" was not cool those days.
Eventually after the teacher didn't get the answer they were
looking for, they said "But the first step, I am sure, you would
ask a friend".
Really? That confirmed that I had been correct about not revealing
them my answer. Not only would it not have been cool, I would have
been ridiculed for being a nerd.
Two decades later, I am sure that the teacher is more online than
me. Everyone is. It's so strange. They paved over the forest I
used to play in. It's a shopping mall now. I'll keep out and
more likely ask a friend.
