User tomasino started a new self-hosted gopher server
recently[1][2]. I think this is awesome. in fact, I would
absolutely love to see a world populated with self-hosted
gopher servers. I think it would have a good feel to it.

I found SDF, and pubnix, via gopher on an old DOS machine,
which I've written about in the past. My first gopher hole
was a self-hosted setup on an old Acer AspireOne running
debian and the Motsognir server[3]. I quite like the
Motsognir server, and the developer was very responsive.
My gopher hole lived at jozhaus.com, and I kept the name
"Jozhaus" when I moved the content to SDF.

The only reason I moved away from self-hosting was a
planned trip last year, which never materialized. Since I'm
still trying to travel this year, I haven't gone back to
self-hosting. After I settle, I will self-host if it fits
into my life; it's what I want to do, no question aout it.

Of course, there have been some issues with SDF's gopher
setup, but that's par for the course with SDF I think.
Along with my own gopher server, I want to keep things
going here at SDF, and at my grex.org gopher hole as
well. My biggest concern is how to organize it all so
that it makes sense...
