       z80 computer builds, (sdf.org), 08/24/2018
------------------------------------------------------------
I'm a fan of Grant Searle's z80 designs[1][2]. Recently, I
was able to get the z80 CP/M build working. I had attempted
it several times on breadboard, then purchased a pcb
thinking that my wiring might be the issue, only to find
that my parts were the issue. Right now, I have a
functioning pcb version of that, which I'm attempting to get
working with compact flash (I have the CF portion in both
pcb and on a prototype board.) Unfortunately, it's quite
picky about the CF card; I'm waiting for another from ebay.

Since old/small/slow CF cards aren't easy to find, I'm
looking into another project that let's you use SD with
Grant's design[3]. Right now, I'm waiting to hear back from
DtZ about whether I should use LS, HC, or HCT versions of
the 74xx ICs that his design needs. I ordered an SD breakout
from China, so I have plenty of time to mull that over.

Apart from this current project, I still need to find space
for my "Simple z80 with ROM BASIC" build, with cassette
interface. I live in a more humid place now, and I'm nervous
about rust from storing things in the non-climate-controlled
garage... so I need to find a solution sooner than later!
