Living in Dallas, TX, sitting around waiting for snow and ice to melt
is not a usual occurence. I have one faucet on the outside of my house
that does nothing when I turn the tap. I'm hoping it doesn't flood when
it thaws. We will probably learn our fate today. The faucet is on the
shady side of the house, so the ice is melting more slowly than on the
rest of the property. Besides that, we are emerging relatively unscathed
from the winter storm of 2021. We didn't lose power or water and my beautiful
wife had prepared our cubbards to last through this time of isolation.
We have been wholed up in our home for a week. I've been able to work
from home for most of that time except for when Spectrum internet was on
the blink, which happened more than once.
Today, I am exploring using the linux (beta) on my Chromebook. I was intrigued
by this development that had eluded me because the Chromebook has been in a drawer
for months while I used the Mac or PC. I read an article that Chromebooks
are outselling Macs, so I figured it was time to dust mine off and give it
some attention. The Chromebook is a fairly workable device for me because I
spend a lot of time using my device as a terminal to remote into other
platforms anyway. I do however have to RDP into another machine to run some
of my mission critical software such as QuickBooks desktop and my tax prep
software. I have that same issue when trying to use my ARM-based MacBook Air.
Well, I don't want to use up all my thoughts on one post so TTFN.
