It's raining. In a radio I'm listening to the radio news about /Dziady/

people. Tomorrow is the /All Saints' Day/. This day is a holiday in
Poland.

There are many species of apples and pears here. Autumn is the best
season for that fruits. A seller always asks if he can leave more on
the scale than I asked for when he put it on. However, when it comes to
apples and pears, in my house we eat any quantity.
It's said that Poland is the biggest producer of apples in Europe and
in the top producers on the world.

I'm tired today.

I was channel surfing on television. I'm watching /Donnie Brasco/.

I'm on my way to the office. Because of a winter time I've got up
earlier. This state won't last too long.
14:00
-----
I'm on a lunch. Sun is shining as it would be early autumn. The perfect
moment for a city sunbathing, only if I could found a bench hidden from
the wind and I wouldn't be in work.
16:00
-----
The sun is setting. The winter time gave a characteristic drawing in
the sky inconsistent with the actual early hour.

It's dark here. I'm at home and it's like a night outside.

I've woken up and I start figuring out what time is it. This is the day
when we are changing time to the winter one. So everyone must recall if
one hour should be subtracted or added to every clock in the house.
Today is a bit easier because mobiles have automatic time adjustment.
So you can trust the time on your mobile to fight with rest of clocks
and watches.
12:00
-----
Almost two hours of walk in the sun. It isn't often in the October.
15:00
-----
One of the birthday visit to my son. Every parent are happy when their
child is like a young Einstein. So today we are proud. Guests are
hearing his memories from holidays. They are watched two pictures,
drawn with much patience by colored pencils. He got their gift and say
"thank you". And he enjoyed the gift after all. Ufff. There are several
next guests in the next days.
17:00

I did a single-file-month-archive file for my /Soap Opera Phlog/
yesterday. So everyone could read the full month by one "click". What
is more archive is properly folded to the 72 chars width.
Today I've gave the third try to Offpunk. Every time I did it earlier I
failed. I'd like to create an archive for my part (read by me) of small
net.
18:30

I'm cutting a paper piece of meat from cardboard, with characteristic
bone as in every cartoon. The project is hard because it's in my son
head. There was much pencil-eraser work here also. Also a glue.
20:00
-----
My Offpunk testing made me to know about Linux kernel ability of
killing a process which is too resource-hungry. So the todays approach
is also the failed one.

The only thing which is good in the winter time change is that I can go
to the bed before 23 as I always do.

I thought about my yesterday entry here. I used a word "dancing" as a
noun in English which I've found incorrect today. It should be "dance
event" used. But one of the Polish old style word for that is a word
"dancing", or sometimes “dansing” (the same pronunciation in Polish). But
there are no "dancings” in Poland in these days, maybe for some old
timers in a sanatorium or a nursing home. For me that Polish word has
that foreign glamor of luxury. Polish words for a dance event were used
for eg. to name ordinary school party, but a word "dancing" could be
used for example in a five-star hotel or a restaurant with a dance
hall. The way of thinking people in that depressive times were
specific.
***
And the real music theme for the described past times of Polish
"luxury" then could be /David Bowie - Warszawa/. He visited the city in
1976 and then he described his later song as "<Warszawa> is about
Warsaw and the very bleak atmosphere I got from that city." [1]  But it
wasn’t only the Warsaw and the one city square where he was allowed to
walk from waiting train during his journey. The bleak term could refer
to the all of country. For example, the same year Bowie visited Poland
in country ration stamp for sugar were introduced for people. The music

Today I visited a retro computer market. It's a side event to /Pixel
Heaven/ which is usually held in Summer. /Pixel Heaven/ is famous for
international guests connected with retro computer games. For example
creators of /Prince of Persia/, /Dizzy series/ and so on. But today's
event isn't the most successful and it was rather small. I've spent
there less than hour. It was possible to buy for eg. /Nintendo SNES/
for about 75 euros. They were preparing the /River Raid/ competition
for 10-20 computers.
16:30
-----
I've sat with my son to play in /Super Bomberman/. It's the first part,
not the fourth one we played some time ago. This is probably less
complicated and a bit easier. Or my son has gain experience with SNES
controllers. We've got the second world without too many nerves of my
son. He learned how to calm himself and after every mistake he want to
play again.

I'm feeling better but I'm not full healed. Yesterday I'm watched /The
Movies That Made Us/ documentary on Netflix [1]. The episode about
/Ghostbusters/ and the second one about /Dirty Dancing/. That inspired
me to watch a part of /Dirty Dancing/ which is on the Netflix. I'm not
a great fan of these films but I can recommend the documentary and
after all I enjoyed the movie, which documentary was based on.
https://m.imdb.com/title/tt10681222/ [1]
The interesting fact about the movie is the overall atmosphere of
holiday camp built around central restaurant and several bungalows. The
movie is about the USA and it's showing the local society of that time,
but it could be a connection between the way of thinking people then.
There are a similarity to the Soviet-like-company vacations in Poland.
I am not old enough to remember 1970's but my-childish remembers of
1980's is that warm night and alleys marked by small lamps in darkness.
The society arranged around noble people (the doctor in USA and
probably some Socialist party's kingpin in Poland). People were polite
and want to be a part of that hierarchy. Any young people who tried
their fools would be hailed as hooligans. There are so many incidents
todays and nobody call it hooliganism today. There are no such places
for holidays anymore. Everybody want to be on holiday on their own.
Everybody want to pay to act as be the only VIP even if people can't
afford for that for real. So I don't know any doctor's crystal perfect
family with polite daughters who are growing up under the golden cage.
Nobody pretends to be so.
I like movies which are showing that accents of passed times. The key
element of that was a dancing. The polite and polished version of
my-childish remembers is not a dirty dancing but an only adult thing
which is behind of possibility to watch. A pier on the lake and
lanterns, as well as live music. Of course, times back then allowed for
less polite entertainment, which I didn't know about.

Yesterday I had a slight sore throat and a slight runny nose. However,
we had to go to the office because there was a special meeting. Today,
of course, it is not better, only worse. Headache, fever around 38
degrees. I also spent the first half of the day under a blanket. I
don't want to eat. I took one aspirin. Around 4 p.m. a call from work
and a "very important" problem. A person turns out to be irreplaceable
when he is gone for one day. Previously, when the problem was
explained, others believed that I would save the situation by being
there.
Taking advantage of the progress in medicine, I made an appointment for
a teleconsultation and I hope that I will get sick leave for tomorrow
to complete the treatment.

I've realized that I didn't give URLs to the soap operas mentioned
yesterday. For formalities, the intro of The Dynasty. [1] For
comparison, a coarse view of the 1990s in Poland in the opening
sequence of W Labiryncie [2]. It's interesting that despite this
audio-video asceticism, this series has as much emotion for me as the
previous one, dripping with gold. The last opening from the Klan
series. [3] The later years on television were a bit lackluster.

Today's also the second month of everyday phlogging. My workflow worked
perfectly. I haven't been burdened with additional responsibility. I
can write my thoughts on a mobile with a swift like keyboard and words
prediction mechanism. I can transfer them to a Gopherhole from the
golden cage of iOS without leaving the second one. I moved almost my
all activity from Mastodon to Phlog. I had been thinking about it and
it's probably the best solution for me. I don't have to put my content
on someone else server. I am putting it on my server and I am doing it
without so enormous power which I must have to run a full activity pub
instance. For now, I don't see any major losses due to this. I don't
get instant notifications from people who follow me, but my writing
isn't aimed at that.
In the background I'm polishing my English. It will be a long process.
For the future goals:
- I'm still thinking about a proper line breaks. I have an approach for
this. But the base SDF account don't have a crontab command. I will be
thinking on work around.
- The nature of my notes is that they are short and I save them in
separate files. I want not to change the modification date. So that the
original files are more authentic. However, I am thinking about putting
them together over weeks or months into a more easy-to-read arrangement.
- I will focus on everyday topics, weather observations, observations
of life in the city and what my son says. These seem to be natural
topics for soap operas.
P.S.
There are probably three most important soap operas in Poland. The
first one is /Dynasty/. Shown on TV around the turn of the 1980s and
1990s. The fall of communism in Poland and the splendor of Blake
Carrington. I still remember the opening credits even though I was a
child. Interesting information is the fact that two horses from Janów
Podlaski played on the film set in the Carrington stable. The
world-famous stud farm of Arabian horses. I heard this from a guide at
the stud farm.
The second tapeworm was the Polish production /W Labiryncie/
(translated as being in a labyrinth). Many very good Polish actors
probably made a fortune from this not very outstanding, low-budget but
popular production from the beginning of 1990s. Again, as a child who
was not interested in the affairs of adults in the labyrinth of life, I
remember the opening sequence very well.
The third one is the longest series of Polish production entitled
/Klan/ (Clan in English). I was already a teenager, but I remember the
first episode like it is today. The series is still being filmed today.
From the above you can see that my life is connected with soap operas.
If it weren't for the fact that I've never watched /The Bold and the
Beautiful/, I could enter a competition on this topic.

I've been browsing an auction website. There are many board games which

In 90s there was the Polish edition of Talisman called /Magiczny

supposed because in Poland then copyright wasn't fully regulated yet.
This version was issued with the original publisher's knowledge and
with fully redesigned graphics on the board and on all cards. It is
said that Polish graphics and art works are superior than original
ones.

Yesterday I was much to do at my work. I never had thought at the
school that one of the key abilities in my future career will be
writing. I never liked the Polish language lessons and I had the worst
grades for writing. The breakthrough happened in the last class of high
school. I started to write freely and I have the fun of writing. I am
writing my Polish blog for almost 20 years. It is showing my writing
improvement. I am not a writer of course. I am doing many mistakes,
especially in English. But I am able to sit, and to write all page

Today was full of routine. Everything that happened was like any other
day of the year. One strange thing happened yesterday.
Once again, the neighbor came to complain about wild birds flying onto
the balcony. He had previously complained that sparrows and tits made
noise when they hit the feeder. But that was last winter. But the
feeder is no longer on the balcony because there is no winter. This
time he complained about crows scattering dirt from flower pots. I live
in an area where there are a lot of wild birds, so my neighbor's
fixation can continue to develop freely. Every cloud has a silver
lining. My wife packed up most of the potted flowers that had already
faded and cleaned up the pots.
Meanwhile, my day was boring. Maybe it's worth writing about it,
though, that not every day is like a flight to the moon.

It's a worse side during the summer, even with the air conditioning
turned on. My route is oriented in such direction that in the morning
the sun is shining right into your eyes. But in a cold day it's my
favorite seats. I'm sitting there squinting my eyes. It's so needed
exposition to the sun. And it's warm and comfortable. Sunbathing in a
bus.
I've realized that in English the /sunbathing/ expression has a more
positive and correct for that situation meaning. To have a bath in the
sun rays. Polish expression is /opalać się/ which means to burn myself,
like to burn myself with fire. Or maybe it's more correct in Polish,
because lying on the beach for a long time is unhealthy for the skin.

It's easy to visualize that.

My son is singing song about couple in love kissing. He isn't singing

According to the exit poll, turnout was 72.9%. The three opposition

which will have 200 MPs.
Large urban centers were characterized by queues to electoral
committees, where people waited up to 1-2 hours to vote.
A historically high number of voters cast their ballots. Poles should
be proud that democratic parties have mobilized the electorate and the
current populist governments will change. It was not obvious,
especially after the latest information from Slovakia.
I'm also happy. I'm aware that they are many points of view but last
two elections turned Poland to the area totally not of my expectations.
So it will be probably better.

wasn't a suicidal march to death by freezing. Now it's about 20
degrees. The overall feeling is like in the first days of the spring.
The smell of warm and humid air after cold days. Sun is shining and the
grass is covered by dew. Greens are juicy and bright. The snails
heaven.

I'm eating a lunch. Today I've ordered a pierogi. During eating I've
heard someone did the same saying pierogi with a foreign accent. It was
a group of three people probably from Spain. I didn't get the whole
conversation but they said pierogi several times. Maybe they asked for
a full menu.
Some time ago I got to know that a word pierogi is the same word in
English. That these are not "dumplings" anymore. That there are
worldwide obsession for the pierogi. Now I'm googling for the pierogi
and I got the"Authentic Polish Pierogi Recipe". So the pierogi is like
a Italian pasta or a Japanese sushi.
So we (I and that three foreigners) were eating the pierogi. "Pierogi"
in Polish is an express in plural, because "pieróg" is a singular. The
English pierogi is probably a singular and we must say pierogis for a
plural expression what make me smiling.
So we were eating pierogis. I am always ordering a sweet version with a
cream and white cheese inside. On the summer months I like also
strawberries inside. I don't like not sweet recipes but there are many
variations.

I'm watching the Sopranos season sixth. I watched it several times.
Probably more than five times. Every time I am watching the Sopranos I
have a different feeling about it. 10-20 years ago I was enjoying the
story of Christopher Moltisanti the most, the young gangster who is
climbing up in crime world. Now I am looking at Tony Soprano and how he
tries to maintain primacy in the family. It seems to be all about mafia
but sometimes the story is more about average family who don’t have to
be in conflict with the law and the mafia theme is only a scenery.

It's an interesting idea of how Japan society behaving in public
transport. They try to not disturb other passengers. Meanwhile in
Poland I'm looking at the man and woman in their 40s acting like on-bus
lovers who would like to manifest their strong feelings. So I'm like an
old man watching Winds of Passion scenes. It isn't that it outrageous
me but it probably isn't necessary.

As an old man I sat to watch so called election debate. It's organized
in Polish public TV where government can employ journalist who not only
tells questions but during it are simultaneously able to explain merits
of the ruling party. I have always been curious about such clear
decisions regarding people further career in the profession. Everything
indicates that the opposition has a chance to win after all.

I'm going back home with a new winter clothes. I haven't had time to do
shopping earlier and Saturday is the only day. It's the five year since
shops are closed on Sundays in Poland. I am not the person who was
spending all days in a shopping centre before, but the ban is sometimes
very burdensome also for me. If the election on the next weekend will
change the government, ban would be removed or relaxed.

We were discussing at work whether Thursday could be considered the new
Friday. There were noticeably fewer people on the streets on Fridays,
as many of them were heading to their parents' cities or weekend homes
outside the city. Opinions on this matter were divided. Personally, I
found that I could travel faster in the morning, but there were also
reports of the usual traffic jams on main streets from some of my
colleagues.

The next topic is fool examples from Chat GPT. There were reported the
first business example in my company where instead of manual search by
a traditional search engine the results were got from GPT. It was
something like a postal address for a package. It was looking alright
at the first glance of rather clever man and then it was rejected by
other parties. Finally it caused more time being wasted compared to a
manual search for a data.

While I'm traveling by bus I'm often looking at people mobile phones.
What are they looking at? Mostly at short videos from TikTok and
similar. So I'm also lurking at the worst jokes and memes put into a
video clip. What a waste of time.
I'm looking also at book readers. I'm trying to read a book page, even
a part of paragraph. They are often so much focused on reading that my
look is unnoticed. It isn't rare that they are reading erotic theme
books like Fifty Shades of Grey or even less ambitious titles.
I spotted a man in his forties once who was looking like he had been
reading the most serious book on the world. I had done my secret
mission to obtain the text probe. It was an adventure book for school
children which I had read many years earlier. I smiled to myself when I
figured out this.
It's many things to look at the mass transport. But in today's times
the most people try to separate from others inside their mobile screen.

My son is drawing a picture for kindergarten. He created a Star

There are several delivering companies here. The best in my area is the
DPD. We know the delivery man. He also knows us. If he is hanging
around the neighborhood he is always saying good morning. We don't need
any tracking application because he is at the regular time at my house.
If we aren't at home he is always phoning. Even in busy time for eg.
weeks before Christmas he has a time to smile.
And there is worldwide delivery company the UPS. When I see that
package is sent by the UPS I know that it will be a problem. So my
ordered shoes should be today from 10 to 14. And it isn't here to now.
The tracking application is showing old data. Eh.

In a bus. A teenager is calling his friend.
-- Are you at school?
-- Check where the P.E. lesson will be organized. Maybe in the small
gym, or the big one, or the corridor, or maybe school playground?
-- Tell the PE teacher that I'll be there - pause needed to check his
watch - in about 5-10 minutes.
-- Ask him not to write down the lateness. Just say that we've known
each other for a while.
Teenage organizer, I thought.

Yesterday evening I watched /Forgotten Love/ on Netflix. It's the
widely commented film in Poland. It's based on a novel which has three
film adaptations (2023, 1981 and 1937). Especially the 1981's
adaptation is the famous film because it's directed by Jerzy Hoffman,
who is the popular Polish director. Many of Netflix productions are
distorted in a bad way and made films worse. People were ready to
complain but fortunately the 2023's adaptation is good. Not great, but
modernized and well crafted. It could make the original novel more
popular outside the Poland.
What's more the film title /Forgotten Love/ is different from Polish
one. Maybe it's because the original title /Znachor/ is translated as
"charlatan" which has a negative connotation. In Polish original
meaning is more positive. People's doctor who is healing without
education and qualifications is like a witch. Person who poses an
experience and knowledge of herbalism.
