I was on a medieval castle several days ago. Yesterday I was watching
photos I've taken there. On the one photo there is a tower entry. The
size approximately for a bigger person in width and height, maybe a
warrior in full metal armor that time. Entry is located on the base of
the tower, formed with a big stone arc. The place where is the entry is
in the thick part of a wall. It probably caused that the arc is
original and it has never been destroyed through past seven centuries.
I've been thinking about that. How many people passed that doors
throughout the time?

I've read on Matto's Phlog about /43 of the Most Iconic Short Stories
in the English/ for train travelers. Before I had a child I had been
always traveling with a book or a magazine. One day I accidentally
started reading Proust and In Search of Lost Time. This is a good book
for a leisurely train journey. Now I have too much to do at the moment
to be able to read something in peace.

I watched the video about Tokyo subway cleaners [1]. There was the joke
about Polish railway in the 90's and their cleaning procedure:
-- Every wagon is cleaned and all dirt from today, current week and
passing months is carefully removed. If dirt remained, it must have
been dirt older than a year.
Today's situation is a much better and the rolling stock from 70's-80's
was changed for modern one. But I was shocked seeing the Tokyo subway
short after a rush hour. Wagons were clean with bright yellow
upholstery illuminated by bright light like in a shop window. The only
dirt in the wagon was a lost white shirt cuff button with a piece of
white thread.
There were also older subway lines and older wagons but I am thinking
that mentioned video isn't exaggerated in no way. That procedure can't
be implemented in any other country than Japan.

I was surprised several times by the response of people from abroad
visiting Poland, that what caught their eyes was that Poland was very
clean. I don't think Poles think so and it seems to them that it is not
so. Although since I started paying attention to it, I think that
public spaces in Poland are often well-kept. Even though there are
always exceptions to the rule.
I am often mentioning my abroad trip to the one of so called third
world country (not in Europe). It was touristic trip by a coach through
a whole country. We had a stop for some shopping and people were
getting out to a street. There were garbages all around, with a quite
big paint can laying on a lawn. I was observing while one person put
the can on the base and put some crumpled paper into it. Every next
person treated the can as an official garbage can despite it was in the
center of untidy and cluttered space.

But there are always two sides of the story. It's possible to meet
homeless people in Poland whose odor is so intensive that it's hard to
bear by a normal people. They are like medieval European people
presented in Shogun novel by James Clavell, who refused to be washed,
considering it harmful to their health.
Tokyo homeless people which I saw were laying on a literally white
blankets and were clean. Tokyo subway in a rush hours is smelling soapy
and bath smells. It's not possible in Poland and other European
countries I've visited.

I ate a dinner in a train. There was a special restaurant wagon with a
cashier at desk and a cook in a kitchen. They were offering a menu with
10-20 dishes. Several breakfast options, soups, second dishes and
drinks. Prices are not so high to totally avoid eating there. Food
isn't so bad either. There are many not-in-a-train places where it's
possible to get worse food. I was rather fine after I had gotten my
choice.
In such places the most important ingredient is unique experience
connected with them. So we are eating in quite big interior, lighted by
big windows, and behind them passing landscapes with speed around
150km/h. Despite it isn't five star restaurant, and ordered coffee
would be more than awful, there is the feeling of luxury in some way.
I had the similar feeling years ago while flying on a intercontinental
flight in economic class. I hadn't been eating European breakfast for
two weeks and they served small wheat roll, with a small butter and
some sausage (which I'd never touched in a normal condition). I was
eating that with a great relish. While eating I was looking through a
plane window. The plane was flying over snow peaks. On the plane
entertainment system I read the speed and altitude - 10 000 meters
above the ground. This several seconds while I was biting the roll was
also the same feeling like being a first class passenger.

I've eat dinner in a /bar mleczny/. It's the institution which could
not exist outside Poland. It's one of relics from the Poland under
Soviet influence era. It's a place where you can order food from a
certain group of products. The name could be translated as milk bar so
many positions of a menu are milk recipes like pancakes, dumplings, and
other milk, flour, white cheese, or cream ingredients ones. There are
also soups like tomato soup with noodles and others. There are many
only local dishes like /pierogi ruskie/. But there are also meat dishes
like breaded pork chop, or minced cutlet. The base idea is to eat fast
and cheap. Dishes aren't very sophisticated but they should be tasty
and fresh like eating at home.
The overall experience of eating in a /bar mleczny/ is far from eating
at home. Cashier gets an order and collects the money. Cook is serving
a dish from big pots. There are no waiters and customer must do
everything on their own, and the empty plates must be returned to a
special window in a wall. In the oldest places like that we can feel
like being in a factory canteen in past times.
My today's experience was tuned up by a cashier who is acting like the
pre-capitalist era. Customer is the payer and they have the money but
there isn't a place for any kindness or marketing. Smile isn't face of
our business - she could be yelling out. Inside there were about 10-20
people but everything was on an official level with a proper amount of
roughness.
I ate tasty dinner and I was soaking up the atmosphere. There aren't
many places like that. The old school /bar mleczny/ like in a Polish
comedy [1].

People said that populist party which won last election in Poland
encouraged people to be depended on social programs. That they don't
want to work because they are getting enough money on unemployment
without any effort. There are many memes on the Internet. Today I've
spotted people that probably do their lives in such way.
I didn't expect that I could meet them in a train. They were traveling
with a one year old baby. So I had a smile on my mouth when I was
looking at the baby. And I was frightened when I was cropping a picture
of a whole family. They not only looked like people without money but
they were wearing dirty clothes (not clean but worn or modest clothing)
and they lacked a standard hygiene. In a simple word they were
spreading an unpleasant smell.
It wasn't that they seemed to be bad parents. Child was looking much
better than they were. But I can't imagine how they could work. I don't
know how big gap is to catch up by their child to be with a
possibilities of an average child from other family.
And for sure the social programs in their situation didn't work.

Internet was flooded by masses of people who aren't aware of its
delicate shape and they ruined it. One of names for that
multidimensional process is Eternal September [1]. In the real life
there are similar examples. One of that is a mountain trail trekkers
culture created when mountains were less accessible. Today's mountains
are trampled by people dressed in gold flip-flops and Dolce Gabbana
T-shirt. I am not a hardcore mountain trekker but I know several old
customs.
- Mountains are beautiful but dangerous so you must be well prepared.
Warm and waterproof jacket even is a warm sunny weather on the bottom.
- Reserves of food and water
- Be prepared with many trail possibilities and be equipped with a map
- People on a real mountain trail greeting each other
- Mountain shelters provide free hot water (for food preparation)
- Mountain shelters offer possibility to do a ink stamp, each shelter
has own stamp design, it is possible to obtain the tourist badge for
stamp series
I haven't been thinking that this knowledge is something unique or
important. But I'm observing that many people aren't aware even that.

I ordered an espresso. People in a line before me also did so but they
chose to go version. They got their paper cups and plastic covers.
While at the same moment I got a ceramic white cup and a small glass of
water.
I have some sort of ceramic oddity. The same drink or food which will
be served in a proper ceramic tableware in my opinion will be tastier.
So I like porcelain cups, small dessert plates, spoons, forks and so
on. I like to be in hotel for a breakfast where everything is served in
the traditional way.
I don't like an espresso in a paper cup. It's ruining my all
imaginations about coffee. It's similar with tea. And it's covering
also alcoholic beverages - wine without a proper glass, but only
halfway a beer.
Sometimes I observed that my oddity is expanding. Probably after
pandemic clean hands awareness I am preferring to eat burgers with a
knife and a fork. I am good at this competition even with a tall
burger.
Last but not least I got to know not so far ago that there is a
difference with eating by forks and knifes among people in Europe and
in USA. It's a totally different technique and in Europe we are using
more a knife to cut and move a food pieces to a fork instead a fork to
stuff. I was observing that American technique of eating once and I had
thought that it's something local for that certain people. Then I've
read about that more global difference.

My son ate a breaded pork chop with bone in for the first time in a
restaurant today. It is believed that bone-in cutlet is better, but in
my house it is never served this way.
-- I want to see a bone - he said.
He was thinking that it will be a bone shape as in cartoon. He was a
bit disappointed that the bone wasn't like that.
-- Is it a bone of a dinosaur? - he try to organize all his knowledge
about bones.

I've didn't note that yesterday we made almost 12km on foot. Today it
was only 9km because it started raining in the afternoon. Those two
days in my app was counted as almost 100 floors (3 meters for each
floor).
I bought a map. In nowadays we are using a mobile app for mapping. But
it's a good solution to do so in a city. On a mountain trail, you need
a real paper map. Even when we're not going to Mount Everest.

We are climbing /Sniezka/ mountain today. It's the highest peak of
/Karkonosze/ mountains raising 1602 meters above the sea level. The
good side for child trekkers is that there is a lift to the upper part
of the mountain - /Kopa/ with 1377 meters above the sea level. So it
isn't so hard but it isn't to easy. And the peak of such heights is
always impressive. It's about 1 hour higher mountain trekking to get
second peak.
I was regretting that I wasn't climbing mountains through the last
several years. It was always something else to do. Autumn mountains are
beautiful.

I've exchanged e-mails with my reader about my first month anniversary
of everyday writing here. It isn't easy to write every day. It's need
to think about it and plan a certain moment for that. It would be
difficult for me to sit next to full keyboard computer every time to do
so. And my mobile workflow made that easier. So I'm typing every entry
on my mobile. Sometimes they are several separate thoughts and actions.
While I'm driving a subway. Or while I'm waiting for something. Then
I'm publishing whole day in the evening.
I'm working on iOS with /Blink.sh/ - seamless integration system file
manager with SSH and public key mechanisms and /Drafts/ for editing
text files.
If the world were normal, iOS would have a built-in text file editor
and integration with SSH via public key.

I'm still traveling. Today I'm in Polish mountains called /Karkonosze/.
I was surprised that the name in English is translated also as /Giant
Mountains/, there isn't any connection with "giant" in Polish name.
I was visiting /Jelenia Gora/ town. It was my second time here but
there must changed a lot in last years. It isn't big city with only
about 80 000 inhabitants but it's still full of people outdoors. There
are many shops, cafes, restaurants. Sun is always beautiful in
September so there were many postcard views. It isn't so polished as
towns in Alps because this region is much more poor. But it seems to be
good managed and could be interesting alternative to the most famous
places in Austria or Switzerland.
The only thing which I was regret today was an espresso which I've
ordered in coffee shop. I'm used to a real Italian style espresso.
There are many hipster coffee shops in big cities which are serving
that kind of drink. It's prepared the same an in the south Europe and
with most quality beans. So today I've drink something like an
Americana coffee in a small cup.

tower (20 floors). I always like to walk so it's made me happy that he
is also like walking.

There are more and more new train wagons here. Everything is clean and
comfortable. Air conditioning is the new standard. You are able to buy
a ticket in a mobile app by ApplePay. You are able to trace any train
to check any disturbances. Years ago trains didn't have water in dirty
or devastated toilets. The only thing which is changing very slowly is
the speed of travel. There are lines which are faster than any car on
the same route on a motorway and which are taking less time than whole
travel by plane. But there are also lines where average speed is lower
than 80-100km/h and travel could take the same time as intercontinental
flight from Europe to New York.

I've forgot to write about yesterday SNES afternoon. My son asked to
play Super Bomberman 4. The game had made him upset 1-2 weeks ago
because was too complicated. We were playing cooperative two players.
In the game is needed to plan next moves and be quick enough to evade
opponents. But yesterday he said that he want to learn how to play. He
was calm after each mistake and was playing better and better each
time. I've observed for the first time the will to fight the next
level. The last play was announced as "If we won't be able to win that
time we will pause.". The fully professional computer player.

I've been working longer than usual. During return I was thinking about
bus choosing decision process. There were three buses of different
lines but covering my desired destination. The first was crowded. In a
distance I saw a second one which is an accelerated line (doesn't stop
on all bus stops). I've decided to wait. And then arrived also the
third one which is an express line. It was almost empty with chilly
temperature inside. It easily overtook all buses. It was probably
several minutes time gain. But overall satisfaction was like being
first in a formula 1 race.

I'm sitting on a sofa. While ago I've been on a 5km walk around a park.
Despite I had been thinking that yesterday day be hot like on the
Metavira island, today was a much hotter. I was working from the home
office with a floor fan working all day.
Today is also a special day said to be the Programmer or Developer day.
Our company organized pizzas for the lunch for all people. What are
programmers talking about on their day? About AI which would, or
wouldn't, make them unemployed in several years, decades, or never.
I am feeling that all that buzz around AI is a next bubble. Something
is on the way, but many things are only a creative projection.
I was frightened when people are saying that ChatGPT made a perfect
memo from a teleconference meeting for them. They are putting a full
transcript of meeting and are happy from several paragraphs of text
which is pretending to be a memo. I was always thinking that a memo
should be an organized and planned thing to fulfill its goals to be a
roadmap for next actions. So I will be facing fake memos in the future.
Or it's only an old man grumblings.

Apple Special Events. So I'm watching it also today. There are always
much of "amazings".
I've thought about their ecological way of doing business. They started
calling themselves as green so those was so frothiness at that time.

the longest time" and with exchange old devices for a new one with a
hundreds dollar discount. It's smart way to make prices acting in the
opposite way. Cheaper devices are tend to be single use and resource
wasting. We will see what will happen in the real world.

The US embassy has been in the same location for many years. I didn’t
expect anyone to be unfamiliar with it.
Today is September 11th. YouTube has been showing me videos about the
WTC for several days. There isn't any news about what happened 22 years
ago, but people still remember it. I can clearly recall the moment I
first learned about the first plane hitting the building.

I was on a bus when I spotted the ticket inspectors. They were waiting
at a bus stop, trying to blend in with the other passengers. I don't
know why, but they always seemed to stand out in such situations. Two
large men were attempting to fit in on the opposite side of the bus
stop, looking in different directions as if they were characters in a
cartoon. Then, like secret agents, they scanned all the people, trying
to guess who didn't have a valid ticket.
So many people without tickets had enough time to leave the bus. I
observed two women with a wheelchair who suspiciously waited until the
very last moment to disembark.
I must have appeared to be the last person without a ticket, as I was
checked at the very last second. Just before me, they caught a young
man who had been on the phone, loudly discussing a job position that
their mutual friend had just informed them about – a seemingly
impossible fact.
Either there are so many people without tickets that they always catch
someone, or they aren't as inconspicuous as I think.

I want to share an experience I had in Vienna several years ago
regarding ticket control. The ticket inspectors had a different
approach; they were highly visible in their orange vests. At one point,
they blocked every entry and stairway at a large metro station.
Accustomed to operating discreetly, I found their display of power
amusing at that moment. Fortunately, I had a valid ticket with me at
the time.

my child with a clay. We made a castle. Hands were red from the clay

and surrounding is full of orange shades. On the river many boats are
passing near us.

I crossed the river using a ferry. Two members of the crew were on
board, in sailor like outfit, and they consistently played loud music.
Today, it was something known as "Italian disco" in Poland, which is
quite popular at all wedding parties among people in their forties.

type of music was embarrassing for them. Customs differ from one place
to another.

Today Polish national football team is playing a match. It will be
broadcast in TV. For some reason Poles are thinking that football is a
national sport. But we are always losing at the most unpredictable
moments. Sport specialists are explaining the reasons. The coach is
changing. And the story is repeating.
Simultaneously Poles are the best team in the volleyball. But for the
unknown reason volleyball is less prestigious than football in Poland.

We've went through the city for more than 2,5km. I was on my foot. He
rode on a small scooter. The journey passed in the best atmosphere
without any turbulences. Now we are a one of largest park in the city.
There is a playground here. In a tree shadow is very comfortable.

I am able to look at trees tops from my windows. It's a distant city
landscape. I realized today that Autumn is coming. Several trees are in
the shades of yellow. Forming green with a bit of yellow spheres in the
line of totally green trees tops. Every day from now there will be less
green color there. Less expressive shapes. More yellow, red and brown.
Finally colorless blobs and branches.
I've been amazed how Japanese are living inside the nature around them.
And how they observe every change. They are preparing a special parts
of city parks with plants for example forming one color during bloom or
during Autumn. It's helping people to observe the changes. Because in
the certain moments the nature will made a more significant thing. And
it's easier to wait for that certain moment every year. With more
developed sensitivity of nature people in Japan are probably aware of
things which aren't noticed for the most of us.

I've been contemplating which beer style to choose for tonight. My
favorite IPA is always a solid choice, but I've been tempted by the
Baltic Porter lately. It's a stronger style, but I enjoy its chocolate
and cherry flavors.
It's important to note that there are no actual chocolate or cherries
added to the beer; I prefer to stick to the original recipe without any
artificial additions. Of course, there are styles where such additions

I watched a YouTube video about USA and driving license. They said that
only the most poor people don't have a car and don't drive it. A bus
travel is always a difficult thing because there are no many bus lines
and all bus system isn't enough developed to make possible for
efficient travel by it. And of course it isn't safe to travel by bus
because of other (poor) travelers and the overall comfort is low.
So, it could be seen by people, who reading this and they are from
other countries, that I'm crazy because I'm traveling by bus every day.
But fortunately traveling by bus in Poland it's a different thing. In
the biggest cities there are plenty of new buses with air conditioning.
Bus system is covering many city's districts. On my usual route there
are several lines every 5-10 minutes. It isn't always like in a private
limousine but it is comfortable.
Sometimes people don't appreciate the things they are used to.

I had been working from home for almost 2 years. Then I've switched to
working from office for several months . It wasn't easy because my
commute time is more than 30-40 minutes in the morning and the same in
the afternoon. The first thought was that it's a big waste of time. But
today I was working from home again. I can't do it in a proper way.
It's late afternoon and I was mainly sitting at the desk. Maybe I did
more tasks (it's sort of a "home office rage"?) but my work-life
balance was violated. The same time during office day I have done about
5000 steps. I have been on a lunch outside. I have chatted several
persons face to face. Instead of that I've ordered food to go and I've
been staring at the screen during tele conference.

I'm reading about the Interstellar Meteor 1 (IM1). Someone gave 1,5
million dollars donation to scan bottom of the ocean with a magnet and
attract 1mm metal balls, the remains of IM1 detected in 2014 [1]. This
story is interesting as the 'Oumuamua, so called 1I/2017, the first
interstellar object passing the Solar system detected in 2017 [2]. But
the 'Oumuamua was too far and too fast to obtain any further details.
People said it could be a probing tool scanning our system.

I've printed several coloring pages of Star Wars. There are many
spaceships here. I'm sitting on a sofa now and I'm looking at my child
who is drawing. He preferred to draw a new sketch instead of coloring.

It's time for a second espresso. I've experimented with many ways of
making coffee. I like visiting coffeehouses. In my home I'm using the
Bialetti coffee pot and a manual grinder.

I'm on a city river beach. There are public sunloungers, even a special
smaller one for children. City provided also a free of charge ferries
for people to travel between riversides. Several years ago there wasn't
any of that. There is still a smell of summer here.

I've ordered color pencils, plasticine and other for kindergarten.

I'm the kitchen chief today. Spaghetti with tomato sauce and Grana
Padano cheese. I like a bit more of garlic. The key of good result is
/al dente/ pasta and good olive oil. I'm buying oil and cheese always
original brands from Italy. It's worth to say that it's the best
season for tomatoes now.

Yesterday was the National Blog Day (stylized as 3l0g Day). There isn't
much of progress in that area in my case in past year. I was posting
more in Tinylog or Phlog rather than ordinary Blog. There aren't many
new subscriptions in my RSS aggregator.

I'm sitting on a sofa with my child. He is watching a cartoon. I
listened his news from a kindergarten. He enjoyed the first day in the
new school year. Now I'm thinking about weekend. I'm chilling an IPA
bottle for late evening. It's my favorite brand "Misty" brewed by
/Trzech Kumpli/ (it could be translated as "three buddies"):
