Today, I commuted to work using my old route, which passes through a continuously renovated stretch of road. Ten kilometers of construction amid mud and street grime from last week's snow. I don't know when this renovation will end, but it doesn't seem soon. The bus maneuvers through sharp turns, temporary narrowings, and detours, struggling to fit when a larger vehicle approaches from the opposite side.
However, the most interesting thing happened on the way back. There was more crowding than usual, so I stood among other people. Suddenly, a couple in their thirties started talking near me. The man was striking up a conversation with the woman, and after a while, it turned out they didn't know each other at all. He was trying to get her phone number and invite her out in the evening somewhere in the city. After a moment, she started giggling like a teenager. Scenes like that don't unfold often.
