So Asanoyama is in the deep doodoo now. Lots to wait for but the lying
seems to be the biggest issue for the NSK. Rightly so for an Ozeki. I
believe he is being demoted rather than prevented from competing for a
number of basho. Something like down to the second from bottom
division. Loss of salary, status and so on will occur as a result.
Anyhow, hakkeyoi!
Tokushoryu visited from juyo and faced Ishiura. Ishiura looked like
he was about to win when Tokushoryu rallied and sent Ishiura flying
into the sitting gyoji. He soon followed to add some more chaos.
Terutsuyoshi faced Daiamami. Daiamami had lifted Terutsuyoshi up, feet
off the ground but soon found himself in trouble. Some nice shifting
about lead to Terutsuyoshi being thrust out of the dohyo by his neck.
Shimanoumi sent Akua back to Juryo. Akua got his make-koshi and at
Maegashira 17, the only way is Juryo.
Kotonawaka sent Kagayaki flying. Some nice belt fighting went on and a
smooth move sent the Kagayaki bowling ball flying out of thr dohyo.
Kotoeko faced Endo. Some bunny hops while hugging forced Endo to the
straw, Kotoeko's feet left the ground and some shuffling ended up in
Endo out of the yusho race really.
Hoshoryu faced Tochinoshin for the first time. Neither wanted to start
even as the gyoji grumbled. The match was over in a flash really.
Tochinoshin tried a henka, failed and then they engaged. The sky crane
came out on Hoshoryu who found himself out of the dohyo. He looked
dazed and confused after that.
Kiribayama decided to have a go at chucking Tobizaru out. Well
Tobizaru won but ended up flying out of his own accord. He only
reached the second row though.
Hidenoumi had an opportunity to stop Wakatakakage from gaining
kachi-koshi. He took it with a swift head pull to the ground.
Hokutofuji was delightfully brutal with Daiesho. They barely engaged
at the tachiai and Hokutofuji slammed Daiesho to the clay, making him
make-koshi.
Ichinojo faced Takakeisho. The height difference is impressive. Some
30 odd cm. Ichinojo kept Takakeisho at arms length, preventing the
wave attack from occuring. An attempt at pushing the head to the
ground was foiled and Ichinojo was on the step backwards. In the end
Ichinojo stepped out of the dohyo. A shame as Ichinojo fought well.
Asanoyama is out now following his breaking of the Covid protocols.
Takayasu got the easy win.
Terunofuji faced Onosho. Terunofuji essentially grabbed Onosho and
dumped him out of the dohyo.
Yusho race - Terunofuji at 11-1 with Takakeisho chasing at 10-2. Endo
follows on at 9-3.
Kachi-koshi - 7, 7 are 1 win away
Make-koshi - 13
It seems we are shaping up for some good exciting bouts on the final
day to decide who is make-koshi or kachi-koshi.
