Back without some tea this time. Feeling a little delicate from being
out last night but its ok. Sumo time!
Ura visits from juryo today and faced Keisei. Ura wins by pivoting
Keisei.
Akiseyama has gone kyujo after fracturing his jaw on day 3. He fought
on for another 4 days!! Madness. It is his first time going kyujo for
some 800 or so bouts. Hopefully he recovers soon!
Okinoumi managed a fairly impressive feat. He defeated Chiyomaru by
lifting him. Not an easy affair!
Ishiura faced Terutsuyoshi is a battle of the short rikishi. They kept
low to the ground and bent over for most of the bout. Terutsuyoshi got
a right hand grip and flipped Ishiura over. A good match up.
There are some odd matches at times. Kotonowaka seemed to just
dominate Tsurugisho from the start. It seemed that Tsurugisho had lost
in his head and was just putting in a token effort to try and grab
Kotonowaka's belt. Kotonowaka seems a fine rikishi but not so good to
turn Tsurugisho to jelly. There do seem to be some clear 'oh no, I can
never win' partnerships around. I am confuddled I tell you.
Endo managed to roll Hidenoumi out rather quickly. It was a nice
gambol as they say in the West Midlands or forward roll for the rest
of the world. 8 out of 10 for style.
Hokutofuji had to work hard to send Tobizaru into the crowd. Tobizaru
did lots of running, ducking and diving. It did him no good as
Hokutofuji sent Tobizaru flying into the tiered seating. Hokutofuji
has the record for furthest distance with a Tobizaru so far this
basho.
Kiribayama and Takayasu certainly had the longest bout today. Lots of
hugging and trying to find the other's hand. They break out engage in
hugs and then suddenly it is all over. Takayasu won another stamina
bout.
Wakatakakage showed Takanosho where the dohyo ended in quick order. He
seems to be doing well this basho.
Mitakeumi made Shodai's clearing kadoban that bit harder.
Takakeisho didn't seem to have to do much to defeat Myogiru. Pretty
much dodge and let Myogiru and gravity do all the work.
Hoshoryu decided to dance with Asanoyama for a bit. They tried a jive
but ended up on the ground with Hoshoryu on top. 2 out of 10 all round
from the judges.
Terunofuji faced Daieisho. There was a chase around the dohyo before
Terunofuji got his kachi-koshi with a quick shove.
So 1 kachi-koshi and 5 make-koshis (all kyujo rikishi) so far.
Terunofuji and Takakeisho maintain their positions as yusho lead and
yun-yusho leads. 7 are chasing with 2 losses. On to the last week!
