The first day of Aki. Well it was fairly uneventful.
The bouts were brief and lacking technical prowess.
However, this often happens at the start. Excitement
comes from story lines and rivalries. However, it was
great to see Terunofuji's first Dohyo-ri as a
Yokasuna. He did well and looked formidable. The
yusho is his for the taking seeing as Hakuho is out.
His stable has been prevented from taking part thanks
to the one wrestler testing positive for covid within
12 days of the basho starting. Takakeisho is kadoban
following his injury from Nagoya. Unfortunately, he
lost his first bout.
Lets hope the ring rust is brushed off quickly and
we get some exciting bouts. Hakkeyoi!
