Gone Meta
October 05th, 2017
----------------------------------------

I've finally joined the MetaARPA group on SDF, and it's been pretty fun so
far. I have not had the time to explore very much, but just having the
ability to use git and tmux has enriched my SDF experience immensely. As I
flesh out my setup, I'll be spending more time on IRC.

I have to thank tomasino for helping me get set up on the MetaArray[1]. It is
a very awesome thing, but I didn't even realize it existed until yesterday.

One thing that does bother me a bit is how stale a lot of documentation is
for various things on SDF. I've found that the most up-to-date info can
usually be found on the Web[2]. Sifting through it all can be a challenge,
however, and even so, aspects of SDF life still change faster than the docs
can keep up (the Minecraft server, for example).

On the SDF cluster, the `help` and `faq` content has good coverage for core
areas, but there is a fair amount of obsolete or missing information as well.
Particularly where MetaARPA is concerned.

Thankfully, everyone at SDF is as helpful as can be expected, whenever I have
a question :)

In the meantime, as a newly-minted meta, I will try to make some updates to
documentation as I find gaps, to help other newbies find their way.
