February 22nd, 2018:

Feeling like a bag of crap today.  I've been fighting this cold
since Saturday, and it's kicking the living crap outta me (yet somehow, I
stubbornly insist on going to work).  I also cracked a molar a day or two
ago, and it's starting to hurt a bit.  Gotta stay hopped up on Advil to
keep the pain away.  Add the fact that Mrs. IPX was... energetic... last
night, and it all adds up to a long, tired day ahead of me.

Not that I'm complaining, mind.

It kinda reminds me of our party days, although we certainly recovered
from a lack of sleep (et cetera) a lot faster back then...

Speaking of "back then", one of my favourite albums, Apoptygma Berzerk's
"Welcome to Earth", was released eighteen years ago today.  I remember
buying it as a new release, and was rather excited to get it home and pop
it into my Amiga CDTV.  I was impressed by Apop's previous album "7", and
was eagerly awaiting this followup.

I wasn't disappointed.  Welcome to Earth didn't fail to impress, in fact,
I don't think it left my CDTV for a couple of weeks after the first
listen.  The tracks Eclipse, Kathy's Song, and Paranoia still find their
way into my regular playlists, and I find they still hold up well compared
with more contemporary electro tunes.

I wasn't so impressed by Apop's follow-up album, Harmonizer, released a
couple of years later.  I think I listened to it once and then filed it in
my CD tower, never to see the light of day again.  Perhaps that's a bit
unfair, I may give it another chance at some point, but for now, I'm going
back in time and enjoying Welcome to Earth again.
