February 18th, 2018:

Sick as a dog today.  Both my wife and daughter are, too, although
the little one seems to be getting the brunt of it.  Looks like we're
going to have a lazy day in as we recover.

My daughter has been addicted to a game called Cat Simulator on my tablet.
It's an open 3D environment where you control a kitten and do kitten
things like knock things off tables, jump up on countertops, etc.  She
seems to enjoy it.

I gave the game a shot after she'd gone to bed, and I have to say, it's a
lot of fun.  I managed to knock a rice cooker out of a window and onto the
street below, then follow it down, roll it up a ramp and onto a passing
car.  The game is pure feline sociopathic fun!

The graphics remind me of every 3D Sega Saturn game ever made.  The Saturn
wasn't exactly a 3D powerhouse, and even its best 3D games look dated
today.  Check out Burning Rangers, NiGHTs Into Dreams, and the horrid
Air's Adventure to see what I mean.

Don't get me wrong, the Saturn is my third favourite console of all time
(Sega Genesis and NEC PC Engine Duo are my 1 & 2 respectively), and I'm
certainly not bashing it, but even a diehard fan has to admit its 3D
shortcomings.  Its 2d and 2.5D games rock, though.  Darius Gaiden is my
favourite game on the console, with Super Robot War F and F Final coming
in a close second.

Hmmm, I may have to drag the Saturn out later for a play...
