Here we are, a year later than my previous update. Plenty has
changed in our lives. We bought our house last year, our daughter turned
4 a couple of months ago, and is starting preschool in a week. I've
taken up cycling, which takes up most of my non-family time.
I attempted to set up my lab a few months ago, moving my computer desk and
setting up my TRS-80/Raspberry Pi rig, but never got much further than
that. I never seem to have the time for much! Had to move all my
unsorted boxes of computer stuff back into my lab space, which pretty much
crowded me out. The tradeoff is we have a great rec room space, and a 48
inch screen on which to play my Sega Saturn and/or Genesis-SegaCD-32X.
I've also spent far more time on the "consumable" internet than I would
like (having a tablet will do that), but I'm making a conscious effort to
stay engaged with the Usenet, Gopher, and BBS worlds, too. Gotta try
harder, though... I much prefer the Usenet and BBS message networks to
Facebook, Google+, et cetera, and Gopher to the nightmare the Web has
become. More on that in tomorrow's post.
Yes, tomorrow's post. If I'm going to stay engaged, I have to
participate!
