I thought I would write about a rather fun experience I had the
other night here at sdf. I logged in to check email, browse bboard
and decided to jump in the "com" app which if you haven't tried it
yet, is a sdf chat board.

It threw me into the anonradio room and there was a lively
discussion going on. Snowdusk was DJ'ing and the Wasabi mix
was pumping. As we chatted and I reflected internally on the
uniqueness of being able to listen and chat with the dj, we found
ourselves at the end of the hour.

Next up on the schedule was something called "Open VOIP".
Hmm.. WTF is this I thought. Soon after the hour started a robotic
voice started belting out a phone number to call, others in com
did as well.

Now twenty years ago during my first forays into online chatting
communities the idea of actually talking to someone from online
was frightening. I've never been a wall flower, very open person
but this act seemed to be breaking a wall that shouldn't be broken
in the online world.

Today, approaching 50, with zero fucks left to give, I dialed that
shit and found myself in a VOIP conference channel with two other
sdf'ers, and being transmitted on anonradio.

Internet fame, here I come! Our topic of dicussion, briefly rms
and then we started talking vintage computers such as TI99/4a and
the like which was much more interesting.

All in all a fun night, it inspired me to finally get off my ass
and become an ARPA member.  Woo!
