GENERAL INFORMATION FOR MUSIC STUDENTS
======================================

For private lesson students, recitals are annual, arranged through the
school or studio where the lessons take place.  Participation in student
recitals is optional, and not a requirement for learning music.  However,
doing so is a nice gesture to family and friends who've supported students
in their music studies, and are enjoyable in their own right.

Unless requested otherwise, social performance (for instance a recital,
family gathering, and or similar) is the stated goal of music studies and
private lessons.  It is also possible to take music lessons for music
appreciation purposes and also in preparation for serious music study and
public performance.

Beginning lessons include instrument familiarity, drills (scales,
rudiments) and some note reading.  Intermediate students can expect to
learn longer and richer pieces of music.  Both popular and classical
(serious) styles of music will be explored as the student progresses.
Lesson length is generally about a half-an-hour - less if the lesson goals
can be achieved in a shorter period, and a little longer if time permits.

Piano Students: Please bring the following to your lessions - sharpened
pencil, 6in-by-9in spiral-bound steno pad (music staff or lined), and your
current music, if any.  Please warm up your fingers prior to the lesson
either at a piano or keyboard, or else on a table.  Lessons are a 1/2 hour
or less.  Please be prompt.

Drum Students:  Please bring the following to your lessions - sharpened
pencil, 6in-by-9in spiral-bound steno pad (music staff or lined), sticks,
a practice pad if not provided, and your current music, if any.  Please
warm up your hands prior to the lesson by practicing lightly above your
knee while seated, either with or without sticks.  Lessons are a 1/2 hour
or less.  Please be prompt.

Guitar/Bass Students: Please bring the following to your lessions -
sharpened pencil, 6in-by-9in spiral-bound steno pad (music staff or
lined), your instrument, and your current music, if any.  Please warm up
prior to the lesson by practicing quietly before entering the building.
Lessons are a 1/2 hour or less.  Please be prompt.
