02/23/24

Weather: first mud season of 2024. FWD sedans that don't know how
to send it when it's 20% grade and 3" of silty goo

Feeling pretty good at the moment thanks to some massage/bodywork
K gifted me a little while ago. Met her afterwards at Scrag & Roe,
the replacement to the ill-fated burger joint that replaced Peasant
back in the day. The burger place thing was odd; they painted the
place bright blue and white, obliterating the small house charm.
These new folks muted things down quite a bit and it fits much
better.  Food great (wide variety of meat and non-meat), cocktails
solid (good corpse reviver, K liked her aperol spritz-type drink).

I picked up several projects over the past months, none of which
have fully come to fruition as of yet. The first one was creating
a self-hosted gopher/gemini/xmpp server off a pi zero w 2. The
domain name was picked up a couple months ago (luddite.institute)
but the actual setup of the servers lagged. Final step is to figure
out how to allow my home router to take incoming traffic. Another
little project was a modified digital watch (the classic casio
F-91W) with a board with much more processing power than the
humble module 593. Psyched to have the zelda secret sound be my
new chime tone, and to be able to cast I Ching oracles with the
press of a button.  Third thing is a zine, which I did make strides
on this week. Think the sheet is laid out well and ready for
printing.  K said she'd host it at the coffee trailer. Hoping
she can also contribute a bit of art, it would add a lot.

Everyone seems at the end of their ropes these days.  Many are
self-aware of it and have taken the conscious choice to step
back from The Grind.  It is very heartening and gives me that
much more initiative to do the same.
