Role Playing Games by Bboard and Gopher

I and some old-school D&D enthusiasts started a bboard/gopher Swords
& Wizardry campaign [0]. Coming from some recent play-by-post or
forum-based games, I had some reservations, but I must say it's been
working quite well.

There are a few disadvantages that I've noticed using bboard to post
actions, the simplistic bboard interface lacks the features of most
forums (not that web-based forums are ideal, either), like being
able to edit a previous post. I think I'll also have to work around
the 30-day post auto-archive feature of bboard, by making sure to
create new post topics every few weeks. And the editor choices
(restricted vi or pico) leave a bit to be desired, I type up all of
my responses in emacs and paste them into bboard posts. Most other
aspects of the gameplay are identical - the slow format, and the
roleplay-centric nature of the PCs responses, for example.

On the other hand, I love being able to run most of this game from
the command line. The one exception was the world map, which I
hand-drew, then scanned, converted to jpg format and posted a link
to. Dungeon maps I am creating as ascii drawings in Emacs artist
mode.

So I think it's been a success so far, and I hope it continues.
