Took the plunge and installed Parrot Linux (https://parrotsec.org/) on a laptop.  It's very polished and has an absolutely mind-boggling amount of tools installed.  No compatibility issues thus far.  Wifi & Bluetooth worked out of the box and the install was the typical Linux installer - no weird configs or finessing needed.

The MATE desktop is one that I'm not as familiar with but it's been very smooth and intuitive.  Plus, it comes with Midnight Commander preinstalled and that's not nothing.
I would definitely say to give it a try if you want to try something new and/or want to get some drive time with various security tools.
