Mastodon (Or How I Stopped Worrying and Learned to Leave Twitter)

The various Mastodon instances (especially SDF's) have really grown and with rare exception, it's quite likely you'll find a favorite account's Mastodon equivalent. It's been a bit of a chore
tracking down, searching and adding everyone from the bird site - I think the API fiasco has also made it tough for any of the import/export tools to work (please correct me if I'm wrong and there's a new whiz-bang script or app that works).

Next steps:

+Start opening Mastodon in a tab instead of Twitter
+Get rid of the Twitter app on my phone and use Mastodon instead
+Invite and help more friends and family get on a Mastodon instance
+Keep adding favorite authors and feeds from Twitter
+Get family & friends set up on a Mastodon instance and help them find accounts they want to follow
+Invite links for said family & friends

It's not perfect, but the more I've used it the more I've found myself enjoying reading and interacting a much better experience than Twitter.  I think it has to do with the
caliber of people Mastodon instances tend to attract, there's a little bit of a barrier to entry in that it takes some understanding of the fediverse and the ability to just block entire instances.  All of these features makes for some pretty good quality of life improvements.
