Summer Check-in
Looking at the Covid numbers ramping up, it appears we're in for another summer of being cautious.
We had planned on attending some conferences in July & Aug but I'm going to bow out and attend online
just to be on the safe side. The numbers were heading down which was very encouraging but now there
are a number of cities and counties near us that are Medium or High transmission areas. I'm hopeful
we learned our lesson and start staying home and masking where appropriate...but I get the very distinct
impression people are going to go out regardless. My guess is that we'll just be on the receiving end of
slowly diminishing waves every few months.
Having said all that, there's been lots of time for reading, learning, gaming and creativity (apologies to
all the extroverts who are doing their best at home)
+ More time on SDF!
+ Finally getting some time to learn some Python
+ Training on AWS (there's a big push to 'do Cloud' at work. We're still not sure how this will look)
+ Reading the ever-growing stack of books (I still can't bring myself to read on a tablet)
+ Learn a new OS and finally get rid of that last Windows machine.
% Linux & OpenBSD are slowly taking over the desktop and laptops
% Gaming will be a challenge (which may warrant its own post)
% Music services & movie watching may suffer
+ Revamp the home lab (RIP Electric bill)
+ More outdoor activities - parks, hikes, etc.
