It's been a while since the last time I wrote anything here, and
the truth is that it's simply because I've been doing so much
but never felt like I really had enough of one particular
subject to write about. But that's somewhat of a silly thought,
given that my intention was just to talk here about whatever is
interesting to me at any given time, so I'm writing this post
anyway.
I have been learning a lot of things in the past couple months,
but I've lacked a strong direction in that learning. The result
is that I've had my brain split between many different topics
and have been struggling to juggle them accordingly. For one,
I've recently obtained a Timex Sinclair 1000 after going on
quite the rabbit hole about them. I'm not going to talk too much
about that, though, because I have a very specific plan for it
that I don't want to speak of lest I curse it. Regardless, I've
also made decent headway on a C re-implementation of ~ATH,
although at the current rate it will be a while yet until I
finish. I've learned a lot already, however, and I've become
rather confident with C. The really dangerous and somewhat
ridiculous rabbit hole I've been chasing, however, is that of
digital design. It's a field I will never truly understand
without dedicating years to it, and yet I find myself wanting to
try anyway. It has provided me with some good reading material,
at least.
I'm using Advent of Code this year as an excuse to learn Go. It
is a language I have been curious about for a long time, and I
really ought to be familiar with a language that offers more
ease and flexibility than C does. I've started reading Learning
Go as part of this, and it's been very good thus far. I am
increasingly enjoying reading computer science books in general.
In any case, I'll try to write these more often again from here
on out.
