This afternoon I caught the train a few stops and walked to the
Wetlands. It was a nice slow stroll. I saw a few birds and heard
many more. It might have been an eagle I saw fly over but I'm not
very good at bird identification.
On the way I met a young man who had been at the Wetlands and said
he didn't see many birds but there was a carpet python in the bird
hide. Sure enough when I got there there was a sleeping python in
the roof.
These are Ramsar Wetlands of global importance but alas right near
a mariner where yachts dock. Some petrol-head was hooning around
in his little boat making a racket. The messes modernity has allowed
people to unleash on the world is beyond comprehension. We can
unthinkgly disturb precious ecosystems so easily.
