It's been a very busy week so far. I'm currently splitting my time
at work between two main projects. This is fairly new for me as up
until recently I was able to focus on a large project which uses
a different skillset than the new one. (Vague enough for you? lol).
Admittedly my technical skills have atrophied a bit so being slower
than I used to be is also an unwelcome adjustment. I'm making
progress and being productive but it does feel like I'm spinning
my wheels a bit. Oh well, the weekend is almost here.
Since making the switch and getting more plugged back in to the
office one thing I've noticed is what I'll call a "lack of
cohesivness" with my team. It's still a mixed bag with about 20 to
30% of people still working from home. There are a handful that I
haven't physically seen in over a year now. We're all still
producing and the quality of our designs haven't taken a hit but
theres just this feeling that something is lacking. The unplanned
ad-hoc bouncing ideas off each other across the office is gone. I
find that there a few people who I don't talk to unless it's
specific to a project we're working on. We also haven't had a team
get together in over a year as well. I'm not questioning people's
reasons or anything like that but I do miss the commradery. Last
year was very lonely for a lot of people, myself included, and
unfortunetly that feeling remains.
No big plans this weekend for me. I'm hoping we have decent
weather and I can talk my pups on a hike or something.
I've been enjoying SDF and messing around with this gopher so
far. Maybe I'll figure out how to transfer files so I can put
some of my python practice scripts up. I have no practical reason
to do this other than just for kicks. It feels good to just tinker
sometimes.
