=============

Normality is setting in... at least for now. After my mother-in-law
has left for home last week we had quiet a few stressfull days with
our son (he had his first vaccinations which lead to some even more
sleepless nights), but now things have quieted down a bit.

Its also about a week since i discarded Fedora Silverblue (which i
still find to be a very nice distribution) for MX Linux on the Acer
Aspire Switch because Fedora turned out to be just too heavy for the
quiet limited space on the Acer. So, why MX Linux? Its because the
Acer has a weird 32 Bit UEFI system which is not supported by many
distributions and without so much expendable time anymore i took what
i did know to work out of the box. This is also my first attempt after
a long time to ditch GUI completely. Why? Perhaps a bit of masochism,
a bit of nostalgia and the realisation that i live mostly in the
terminal anyway regardless of running an window manager.

So, what are the tools i settled in for making life in the terminal
productive, even in 2023?

fbterm and tmux for getting a nice terminal experience
EMACS for ... ehm... nearly everything

Lynx as browser (yes, it works surprisingly well in 2023... but i
still need my phone for banking purposes)

fbi as image viewer
jfbview as PDF viewer (a really nice little tool)
groff for word processing (anachronistic maybe... but i like to work
with it)

What i need to figure out is how to get an virtual keyboard to work in
the framebuffer when using the Acer in tablet mode. I KNOW it is
possible (fbkeyboard on PostmarketOS is a thing) but i have to look
into it.

Will i stick around with this system? Who knows... i have developed an
somewhat unhealthy tendency to distro-hop, allways on the hunt for the
next, weirder and possibly better configuration. So, perhaps its not
so bad that the Acer somewhat restricts my options to try out new
things... also, having a toddler in the house also takes away the over
abundance of leisure that leads to "stupid ideas" ;-)
