=================

After a somewhat stressfull week its now finally friday evening and i can
let my mind calm down a bit.  At work it was... interesting... a coworker
(a travelling salesperson) had to be fired immediately ("fristlose
Kuendigung" in german) because of (idiotic) fraud. What moron thinks
you can pretend to sit in homeoffice and collect the full wage while
simultaniously work for another company? While driving the company car
nonetheless. Whatever, even if i think such behaviour is utterly stupid
and i even don't like the guy, i never like it to be the person who
bricks the devices and locks the person out of the systems. Whatever.

On a more positive note: Due to some weird coincidences i was made aware
of a place called Lambdamoo.  Its a... well..its hard to explain. It
is a MUD but more geared towards communication and creation in a shared
virtual reality represented in textual form. Screwtape has written about
it in the past in his phlog, but back then it never made much sense to
me and was quickly forgotten. Well, a few days ago i talked to an older
former coworker and now friend of me and while bemourning the state of
todays internet we somehow came onto the topic of the Lambdamoo. He is
not active there anymore (in fact, he doesn't own a computer or smartphone
anymore), but recommended to me to check this place out.

Well, i did in a few short evenings over this week and after spending
some time there wandering around as a guest i am now registered there. The
place - while not as populated as in its hayday - feels really lived in. I
somehow like the idea of a textual virtual reality / cyberspace, it let's
the mind create the graphics, and imagination has a better resolution and
higher FPS than the best graphics card, and it somehow fits perfectly
with the Gibsonian idea of the matrix as a "consensual hallucination".
For now i only had a short conversation with one of the residents and
wandered around a bit but it is a space i will further explore.

Oh, and to close this entry with a bit from the family: We were today at
a little gathering of our local church community that is interlinked with
the Kindergarden junior is going to. I am not a church going person,
and while yeah, i believe in some higher powers, i am not sure if i
fit in with organized religion. But the pastor (who is about my age)
who lead the whole ordeal was a pleasant surprise: He (in contrast to
the ones i encountered before) seems just to be a normal, quiet nice
person who did organize the event and just..."acts like the rest of us".

Anyways... Junior did play a little role in a play the kindergarden
kids performed and he really enjoyed it, he also got quiet tired after
it and fell into bed early today. Which is also highly appreciated.
